A good reporter should disclose their source or at least say the source is "suspect". I think only an idiot or unscrupulous person will deliberately give a reporter bad information or pass bad information along as good information.

A good reporter will verify her sources. According to her statement she did. This should be documentable in a court of law. If proven, I don't think John's case will stand up in court.

Actually, I was kind of leaning towards the reporter on this one--until I saw the title of the paper she's delivering in Denmark: "Truth, Lies and History: John Furlong and Canadian Sports' Moral Vacuum." Then I concluded that this person is an activist, not a reporter. Activists are far more subject to confirmation bias than reporters.
