US politics just keeps on getting stranger and stranger. The most recent development is the involvement of Lady Gaga in support of gays in the US military. At a rally in Maine the pop star came out against the "Don't ask, don't tell," policy of the US military.

Lady Gaga's entry into US politics is the latest twist in a political system that continues to become more and more interesting. It might seem a bit strange for someone with her credentials to get involved in political issues, but I suppose thirty years ago most people would not have believed that the Austrian weightlifter who played Conan the Barbarian could become governor of California.

She's another in a long line of musicians who have used their popularity to try to get a political message out. I guess the difference between her and Geldof, Bono, Mellencamp, Dylan, etc is the shock value that Gaga is using. Marilyn Manson is very politically savvy but his message gets lost in all the make-up. I hope she has better luck.

We state over and over again that people ought to be involved in politics, that they ought to vote, that they ought to petition the government for the changes they want to see. Just about anyone with any financial clout starts getting involved in funding change as they want to see it. Why would a musician be any different Chili? You're on here day in a day out making sure someone somewhere hears your views on politics, etc., why should she be any different.

I'd still not give her view any more clout than I'd give, say, your view, but, that doesn't mean she ought to 'stick with music'.

It's not 25 years less, cliffy. If that was the case i'm sure they'd have all type of research on why Dentists commit suicide.

My guess, though, is you've just made that up. Most desntists i know seem happy and well adjusted. I don't know one homosexual who can be said to be the same.

No I did not just make it up. It was a study I read a few years ago.

You obviously have not been to Nelson or the Slocan valley. I know a lot of gay people who are very comfortable with their homosexuality. Me thinks your religious beliefs get in the way of you objectivity.

If we take your post as truth (and I don't necessarily), don't you think that maybe one of the reasons for this is the constant put downs and suppression, and constantly hearing that their 'lifestyle' is wrong, and they'll burn in hell, dished out by the likes of you?

Maybe if you accepted people, they wouldn't be driven to depression and suicide by your intolerance?
