The opening of the East Wing of Charles III's birthplace is part of his desire to make royal residences more accessible to the public.

The King has chosen not to make Buckingham Palace his official residence but it still remains the monarch's administrative headquarters where the King carries out his day to day State duties. The Palace is also a national focal point in times of great rejoicing or disaster.

As part of his desire to give the public more access to royal residences, the King is opening Balmoral to the public for the first time.

Visitors will now be able to tour this magnificent palace in Aberdeenshire, where Queen Elizabeth II died.

Over many years, Balmoral was a favourite retreat for Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip and their four children.

Now, the King is to allow people to tour this beautiful building...

Good for him. Hope he responds well to his Cancer treatment and can return to his royal duties . Between him, the princess of Wales and Sarah Ferfuson, the cancer has impacted the royal family in a very significant way.
We are just beginning to see his new ideas for the monarchy.
