Why should we open our arms to the parents of people who immigrate here? Really. I agree that if the parents are allowed in should have at least a ton of money in the bank and their own private health care. Our health care system is already overburdened and allowing someone in who has not contributed one cent to the system is, IMHO, foolish.
The rule is, they must be the responsibility of their sponsor, for a certain time span.

The loophole is, they're entitled to ALL social services, as landed immigrants.

Do you think they take advantage of that?

You'd be surprised how well a little extra help from your peers can help sustain an economy.
For the economy of a household maybe. On the whole, they are a drain on the system. Having never contributed to it.

Cut family class applications

Kenney pointed to the family class, under which parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens can immigrate. His department received 37,500 applications in 2010 but admits 18,500. Right now, there's a 10-year wait time for processing.

Kenney said other countries require a minimal family income, private health insurance or a bond to limit parent and grandparent applications.

Immigration lawyer Richard Kurland said Kenney's right to suggest a cap on the parents and grandparents category. "Unless you solve the intake problem, you're going to have a growing backlog with growing processing times and it's time to bite the bullet," he told reporters after the

We should cancel the Family class immigration category all together. We don't need it. It does not contribute any benifit to Canada but it costs Canadians a great deal.

Why does immigration need to exist solely to benefit the economy?

Meh. Don't take it too personally.

I was just exemplifying your enthusiasm for cutting immigration.

It doesn't mean its wrong, but you are the CC rep for this sort of thing.

It just means you can't separate the issue from the person, it means you are quite simple. That's not my fault.

Obviously immigration is a touchy topic to people, but you're not sure why. You, like many people here, are unable to put several logical sentences together on the topic. You have very little constructive to say. I recommend reading a bit, or a lot.

Here's some help, people actually have valid criticism toward our immigration policy. Have you heard of the honour killings recently by Afghan immigrants? The Toronto 18? Do you approve of them? I don't. Such things are occurring because people like you just don't want to hear anything at all about foreigners. All immigrants are good people, so nice, nice food, hard working.

Or maybe you like the Japanese who have an expression, "the nail that sticks out, gets hit on the head." People in Canada are passively accepting high immigration levels, very fatalistic, very Asiatic. Very accepting of your doomed fate.

Example;
One man immigrates here with his wife and three children.
Later the man brings both of his parents and the wife brings both of her parents to Canada.

So, now we have one wage earner paying taxes and eight others not working but using Canada's social services ie health care, and four seniors on GIS !

You know, I'd give the guy more credence if he backed up some of his rhetoric with a bit of statistical weight.

I'll support countermeasures to legitimate threats to security or the economy resulting from excessive immigration. But if it's just a rant, I've got nothing to go on.

So would I, but all he posts is rhetoric.

I'm pretty sure it's time to worry about the CPP.
