"Majority of the backlash was due to the scene with Kendall handing a Pepsi to the officer. If you look on social media the focus is more so on police brutality and recent protest, not only with blacks, but also latinos, muslims, LGBTQ, etc. The people who disliked the video aren't just blacks, far from it actually. Though I understood what they were trying to do, if you think about it, the commercial isn't about unity in equality for all, its just them saying "Hey kids! Pepsi is a symbol for unity and equality! Go buy some because protests are sooo in right now!"

Of course this is just my take on it. I saw the video without knowing about the backlash and I just laughed because I thought it looked ridiculous and poorly executed. I do think that a lot of people were over-reacting and I suspect the fact that Kendall Jenner starring (which I also don't understand given the supposed purpose behind the video, there are so many other role models to choose from) had something to do with it
."

Interesting take..

Good God is the world coming to an end over a Pepsi Ad?
I prefer Pepsi and it will make no difference to me at all.
Surely there are more things to get upset about than this
Little kids were murdered, gassed by their own government
and the people are upset about a Pepsi Ad is there something
wrong with this picture

Apart from the fact that it's pretty dumb to think Pepsi is going to solve political problems, I think the issue here is the 'white person will save us'.

At least that Budweiser commercial was believable.

Blacks hijacked the meaning behind the video making it about their cause.. when the video is about unity and equality for all... blacks think they are the only one oppressed in the USA, when Latins, Homosexuals, Muslims are all under attack. NOTE to Blacks.. it's not always about you.. get a life..
Thanks for telling us what "blacks think." I didn't know you were such an expert on the subject.

Not hard to see him sitting on the porch of the general store with the other good ol' boys, holding forth with deep insight and expertise on n*****s and what they think, do, and are.

The forum is filled with his comments denigrating all types of minorities. A few key words in the forum search engine turns up a plethora of his past comments.

They should have showed one of those water trucks that hose people filled up with Pepsi as they spray it on a bunch of protestors. That would have made the whole thing funnier
