I think he needs to publicly address that and tell us why we should trust him

That would be suicide for him.

Regardless, I (generally) don't hold the sons responsible for the sins of the father, but justin showed his hand when he indicated on Que radio that the nation needed to have Que leaders and was going to hell because the PM was from the West.

That comment reeks of daddy's philosophy and in my mind, he's simply following in the footsteps of his old man in designing policy that will pit regions against each other

The same could have been said about Ignatief and Dion.

Unless buddy develops some kind of policies and plans that can compete with the Cons, he won't be forming gvt any time soon... The game has changed quite a bit since PET got in, namely, appealing to the youth and female vote is a necessity, the average individual is savvy enough to understand that eye-candy is no basis to cast a ballot... People have grown-up and considering the nature of the global economy, the options are to craft a strong go-forward plan or promise free lunch to every person that has their hand out.

I'm guessing that JT will not be pursuing the first option

wow good for you, because you sure have way more confidence in people's ability to choose logically than I do...if you take a gander around this site alone, there are people who would not vote in Jesus Christ himself if he came wrapped in guaranteed miracles if he was attached to the wrong party...and I would say in here people on average are likely a few feet up from the average joe citizen

no we have to pray to some higher source that someone gets their tentacles into this kid who understands exactly what the country needs and that means different things for different regions...

he will float in at some point...he is bright, he is charming, he is good looking

deny it all you want...it matters

guaranteed? In what?

A bit early to be on the juice isn't it? :)

It is possible if he actually does come up with a plan and a platform. My bets are on him not doing that however.
it's never too early to have grapes they are an excellent source of vit C. You are missing my point which I have stated in several different ways but obviously unsuccessfully so maybe I did have too many grapes; I am saying, it won't matter if he comes up with a plan or a platform or not he WILL at some point get in I will guarentee it. He has a strong following already and it is based on a fairly low logic. He is in his infancy yet. He may at some point mature enough to be exactly what we need for the time. Even if he does, there will be a certain right winged element that will never vote for him.

See the synchronicity...left, right, partisans, illogical. WE are our own worst enemy.

The honeymoon isn't over yet. At this point his followers are still in gaga stage. Eventually, the honeymoon will be over, then the practical matters will come to the forefront. How long that takes is anybody's guess. If he and his team can come up with practical solutions to our problems, then he may have a chance. I don't hold my breath, not because I have no faith in him as I have no faith in the Canadian voter. Partisan politics is the game of sandbox kids and will only get us into deeper water and further derision.

Not for very far.
And not for very long.

Lots of people saw it.

There is a political figure in Canada who does think he walks on water, but it isn't Justin Trudeau.

From 'Bible Bill' to Stephen Harper, the evolution of faith-based politics - Canada - CBC News

In her exhaustively researched 2010 book, The Armageddon Factor: The Rise of Christian Nationalism in Canada, journalist Marci McDonald traced the growing influence of conservative Christian groups on the Canadian political landscape, and specifically within the upper echelons of Stephen Harper's Ottawa.

Canadians needed to wake up, McDonald argued, "to the realization that slowly, covertly, the political process is being co-opted by an extremist vision of Christianity."

I think if he actually does come across with a solid platform of his own ideas, and not fall back on the 'look at me -- I'm the dashing son of Pierre -- let me lead' he may make some headway. As long as he keeps campaigning on fluff and his liniege, its fair game to be held accountable for that liniege.

The "campaign" hasn't started yet. Still have 2 years to go before the election. There is no need for Justin and the Liberals to start "campaigning". The ones that have decided to start their election campaign are the ones that the Liberals have now got running scared.

Pierre Trudeau destroyed this country with multiculturalism, and a host of divide, and conquer policies! Justine would be the final nail in the coffin of confederation!

Funny how a destroyed country is still considered one of the best places to live by most of the world. Of course the idea that we are destroyed, could just be right wing horsesh-t......

What does his father have to do with it? Judge him on his own terms.
Right. After all, he is more like his mother than he is like PET.

the average individual is savvy enough to understand that eye-candy is no basis to cast a ballot...
Perhaps, but still not savvy enough to dump the partisan propaganda and baseless loyalty.

wow good for you, because you sure have way more confidence in people's ability to choose logically than I do...

The times have changed since PET's tenure.

People have less cash in their jeans because of cumulative policies and everyone knows that good looks ain't gonna pay the bills

no we have to pray to some higher source that someone gets their tentacles into this kid who understands exactly what the country needs and that means different things for different regions...

If you're relying on prayer for this, you are already doomed

he will float in at some point...he is bright, he is charming, he is good looking

Lizzy May managed to get some traction in politics and did it without any reliance on looks; hell, she's kind of the antithesis of JT in that regard

deny it all you want...it matters

Agreed, but without any substance in terms of his policy/plans, all the benefits you listed will be lost

I am saying, it won't matter if he comes up with a plan or a platform or not he WILL at some point get in I will guarentee it.

Trust me... It will matter.

He has a strong following already and it is based on a fairly low logic. He is in his infancy yet. He may at some point mature enough to be exactly what we need for the time. Even if he does, there will be a certain right winged element that will never vote for him.

He has a 'following' among the highly vocal converted.

Let's be perfectly honest here; the Libs had no alternative and baby-t is basically their last gasp... They need to pretend that he is popular in order to cling to the idea that the Libs are actually relevant.

Perhaps, but still not savvy enough to dump the partisan propaganda.

Good point, but right now, the Libs don't have anything to offer that is partisan or otherwise... JT has been vocal in opposing gvt, but the end result is that he is looking foolish
