For the longest time, people would proudly proclaim themselves as "conservative" but the term has fallen into disfavor. Thankfully, folks here in the States have finally spoken out against right wing lies and warmongering and now confront the cons with their inanity. Libs were too afraid of doing so in the past and to some extent still are afraid of doing so. Luckily, this is less so.

On another forum, for example, there was a discussion on Bush's efforts to start a war on Iran. About a dozen libs spoke out against Bush's lies and his tactics but the cons who used to stand up for him as if he was a god of some kind suddenly all clammed up. In fact, the libs have challenged the cons to answer but now it is they who have chickened out.

What goes around comes around. For far too long the right wingers had too much control over the issues and the social agendas. And just at what a mess they made of the USA. I hope this has not and will never be your experience in the North Land.

That's news to me.

The cons under Mulroney ran up the debt in dificult economic times but put policies in place that helped the Liberals give us surpluses and lower overall debt.
