Same reason Canada leans so far left, sheer stupidity.
which parts do you find way too left since you are quite familiar with both sides of the border?

I think balance is the key to staying on track and problem solving. However in good times when a country does well I think things shift left, during bad times they go right.

I would like us to stay fiscally conservative but channel our money toward social programs too after we look after health care...but in a balanced way...why can't we do this?

nothing in Canada is as right as the republicans.

Probably not but there's nothing (no major party) in Canada further right than the Conservatives. (I never did understand this 'left' 'right' b.s. if it works it's good, if it doesn't it's not)

problem is, if there was a full belly in every kid, and exceptional health care, and a balanced budget some numb skulls would still find issue with it...and therein lies part of the problem

I gotta say, I wouldn't even mind politicians skimming some of the cream under those circumstances...but skimming when other Canadians can not cover their basic needs, I just can't get past that and I don't care which party they belong to.

well I did have a good Monday JLM:

I just got a contract for a school that I love

it was warm and foggy for my walk with a gentle rain now and then

the pool was warm this morning and the company was marvelous

I was taken to lunch by my favourite guy

my weight is stable in spite of some cheating

and the positives are continuing....

life is good

I hear you BUT it's not JUST the politicians! How many kids in this country are hungry because of lack of money? How many kids in this country are hungry because their parents or guardians spend the money on other things? I often wonder when I see all these tattoo freaks (about every third person you encounter on the street these days) if they've maybe neglected some things they should have spent the money on. I'm well aware that most of the politicians are like a bunch of children, but maybe not all that much worse than the electorate. BUT, there's just no cure for DUMB.

it DOESN'T matter JLM, it doesn't matter...I don't CARE what the parent or guardian did or didn't do....It doesn't matter.

Why do right wingers focus on this? Please explain this. Please...it makes me think that the further right someone goes the more their heart shrinks. That is truly may perception. Change my persception JLM. Show me that isn't true.

Politicians are paid by me... so yes, I hold them accountable to do their job in an ethical and trustworthy manner just like my boss does with me. I don't give a rat's azz about the electorate but the people we place our trust in to govern...yeah, I expect better.

Hope it all continues.
thanks, so do I but even if it doesn't, it's all good...best wishes back at you

Ooooooooh I think you've lost me there. I spent many years of my adult life providing the necessities so my children were fed, clothed and otherwise provided for because I thought it did matter but mainly because I felt is was my responsibility. They didn't get steak very often but they never went to bed hungry. Is that the sort of thing you are questioning why right wingers focus on? It suppose it all boils down to continuance of the human race- I kind of think it's the main purpose we are here and I think it's up to the parents to see it happens, not an arm of some elected politician in a welfare office. Of course that is necessary too, partly because of the failure of some parents. I realize because of frailties of human nature we have to expect to pitch in for the raising and well being of others besides our own, and I don't begrudge, most just thankful I'm able to do it. Still that isn't a perfect world. Hope I was able to change your perception. :) :)

I just want kids to be fed and exist in a better world than many of them do...

I am glad you don't begrudge a kid getting fed

also, what is wrong with your quote button...it isn't working properly. seems every time I quote you it messes up for some reason

Maybe because health care is provincial and there are twelve different models .

problem is, if there was a full belly in every kid, and exceptional health care, and a balanced budget some numb skulls would still find issue with it...and therein lies part of the problem

I don't think anyone would find fault with that sentiment .
