Police spend more time at Wal-Mart throughout North Texas than almost anywhere else, and an international workers union wants that to change.

In October, WFAA-TV found that police in cities across North Texas respond to thousands more 911 calls at Wal-Mart than any other location. City officials say it creates a burden on their police departments.

On Wednesday, an advocacy group called on local municipal leaders to act.

The group Making Change at Wal-Mart is calling on cities to fine Wal-Mart for excessive 911 calls for petty crimes.

“Communities are fighting for tax dollars to go to education, to go to social services," said Randy Parraz, national campaign director at Making Change at Wal-Mart. "And yet we’re paying to have a cop car sit idle in front of a Wal-Mart waiting for the next incident that we know that’s going to happen? That’s what we need to hold Wal-Mart accountable for.”

The group, whose members have been banned from going onto Wal-Mart property, says it will begin running ads in North Texas and other U.S. cities to bring awareness of the issue. "...So this holiday season send Wal-Mart a message: Our police should protect us, not your profits."

Texas (George Bush’s Texas) is famous for its anti-homosexual hatred, they have laws on the books trashing homosexuality and they are not afraid to use them.

Have you ever lived in Texas, or even visit the state..

It's very diverse in culture and folks are not as prejudice as you claim.. personally, comparing Texas, USA & Alberta, Canada I would have to say Alberta has more throwback racist twats than Texas.

SirJosephPorter, sounds like your prejudice of Texans and maybe US Citizens in general.

This is funny. Texas is full of bigots because they don't like gay people, they even have gay bashing laws on the books apparently. Yet Denmark has essentially done the same thing and the proggies be like,"Those Danes are so awesomely progressive".

I travelled from one end of Texas and back again, by road, a few years ago. I was impressed by the relative prosperity of the place. The regions just to the south of where I live are fast becoming crumbling wastelands. The only economic engine there at all are Canadians going down to shop. Texas is like a different country. Maybe, it actually is.

Parent outrage after Texas teacher gives seventh-grader 'most likely to become terrorist' certificate
THE WASHINGTON POST

Seventh grader Lizeth Villanueva has been in her school's academic honors program for two years. She gets good grades and has never been a discipline problem. Yet on Tuesday, her teacher gave her a "most likely to become a terrorist" award.
It was supposed to be a joke, part of a mock end-of-the-year awards ceremony at Anthony Aguirre Junior High in Channelview, Texas, near Houston, where a group of teachers hand certificates to students. Lizeth, 13, said her teacher "just laughed" when she signed and handed her the certificate, just one day after the Manchester arena terrorist attack in Britain.
But Lizeth's mother Ena Hernandez didn't find the award funny at all.
"I was upset and very mad when I saw the award," Hernandez told The Washington Post. "I was surprised because my daughter has been doing well in the honors program."
Lizeth, who is Salvadoran American, wasn't laughing either. Her emotion was one of shock, she said.
She said two honors classes were brought together for the fake ceremony. Other awards included "most likely to cry for every little thing" that was given to a girl and "most likely to become homeless" that was presented to a boy.
The three other teachers in the room laughed when the awards were handed out, according to Lizeth.
Channelview Independent School District spokesman Mark Kramer told KPRC the awards were a "poor attempt to poke fun and it "wasn't well thought out."
Ena Hernandez said the principal Eric Lathan personally apologized during a meeting at the school.
In a statement the school district said:
"The Channelview ISD Administration would like to apologize for the insensitive and offensive fake mock awards that were given to students in a classroom. Channelview ISD would like to assure all students, parents and community members that these award statements and ideals are not representative of the district's vision, mission and educational goals for our students.
"The teachers involved in this matter have been disciplined according to district policy and the incident is still under investigation."
Hernandez says she wants them fired or else "they will continue doing the same thing."
Lizeth hasn't been back to school because she "feels uncomfortable."
