I don t listen to anyone, i collect the most information i can get and then i make my own opinion, and no, oussama bin laden never claimed responsibility of the attacks, in fact on september 28th 2001 he said the opposite.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oussama_bin_Laden

"I have already said that I am not involved in the 11 September attacks in the United States. As a Muslim, I try my best to avoid telling a lie. I had no knowledge of these attacks, nor do I consider the killing of innocent women, children and other humans as an appreciable act. Islam strictly forbids causing harm to innocent women, children and other people. Such a practice is forbidden even in the course of a battle.... The United States should try to trace the perpetrators of these attacks within itself.... intelligence agencies in the U.S.,"

I guess you missed his November 11th press conference:

Link

The hijackers were "blessed by Allah to destroy America's economic and military landmarks". He freely admits to being behind the attacks: "If avenging the killing of our people is terrorism then history should be a witness that we are terrorists. Yes, we kill their innocents and this is legal religiously and logically."

God knows it did not cross our minds to attack the towers but after the situation became unbearable and we witnessed the injustice and tyranny of the American-Israeli alliance against our people in Palestine and Lebanon, I thought about it. And the events that affected me directly were that of 1982 and the events that followed -- when America allowed the Israelis to invade Lebanon, helped by the U.S. Sixth Fleet. As I watched the destroyed towers in Lebanon, it occurred to me punish the unjust the same way (and) to destroy towers in America so it could taste some of what we are tasting and to stop killing our children and women.

You forgot the threat to the region and in particular Israel.

There was no threat to the region from iraq, and same for israel.United nations inspection destroyed 95% of illegal weapons in iraq, the counttry has been under un sanctions(which was by the way supported by UK and USA) for 13 years, where 1.5millions of innoncent peoples has died directly because of the sanctions.

The United States was the largest importer of Iraqi oil under the UN Oil-for-Food program, you know the one I am talking about? Why mess up a good thing?

Kuwait says you're wrong, so do the other Arab countries that permitted US and allies to launch an attack. Israel has been under threat since it's inception.

The UN approved Gulf War I and implemented the sanctions against Iraq. The US and UK picked up the costs. And Saddam killed his people by diverting oil revenue to fill his pockets, not to mention buying villas in....France?

That is speculations, arab countries didnt let usa and allies to launch attack on iraq because they fear iraq.

The UN implemented the sanction in iraq, because saddam invaded koweit in 1991, then the us and uk decided not to lift the sanctions until saddam comply with the un regarding illegal weapons. Then all leaders from bush 1, clinton and this administration, stated that they will never lift sanctions unless saddam regime is gone. So saying that saddam killed his own peoples while he was diverting oil for food, is pure speculations at his bests.

Now about the oil for food scandal, have you forget what halliburton and cheeney did during the sancctions?? they deal with saddam, when it was prohibited by the sanctions, do you know how cheeney get away with it?? because at the time his home was in canada, incredible isnt??

It is hard for the us to tell others about corruption, when usa are doing worst.

_Only a quarter of $23 million entrusted to civilian and military project and contracting officers to pay contractors ever found its way to those contractors.

_One contractor was paid $14,000 on four separate occasions for the same job.

_Of $7.3 million spent on a police academy near Hillah, auditors could account for just $4 million. They said $1.3 million was wasted on overpriced or duplicate construction or equipment not delivered. More than $2 million was missing.

_U.S. personnel "needlessly disbursed more than $1.8 million" of the estimated $2.3 million spent for renovating the library in the Shiite holy city of Karbala.

_The library contractor delivered only 18 of 68 personal computers called for and did not install Internet wiring or software. The computers worked only as stand-alones.

_The U.S.-led security transition command spent $945,000 for seven armored Mercedes-Benzes that were too lightly armored for Iraq. Auditors were able to account for only six of the cars.

_At one point, several paying agents kept cash inside the same filing cabinet in the Hillah vault. One agent took $100,000 from another's stack of cash to clear his own balance. "This was only discovered because the other paying agent had to make a disbursement that day and realized that he was short cash," the report says.

Yeah, but this was OUR money, we didn't take it from the Iraqi's, like their leader did.

Ok i see, good point, but still only 4 coorporation are operating in iraq, 2 us and 2 uks, and not counting it is privitazed, the real reason behind the war, was oil, and geopolitical strategy. If saddam would be still in place, and sanctions would have been lifted, it would have favored frrench and russian oil coorporations.

Well they fear more the us than saddam, we canadians lost about 5000 jobs, because we didnt support the war in iraq, the crisis sorrounding " vache folle" (sorry i dont know the word in english) and the crisis of the "" bois d oeuvre""

Good point, but you have to understand that during 13 years, 63 bn was given to the oil for food, saddam bribed 750 millions of this oil for food scandal, so saying he bribed all the money is only speculations,750 millions out of 63bn is about 1% , still it is very bad though.

nah , come on halliburton did business with saddam when it was prohibited, dick cheeney got away with it, cause his home was in canada, do your own search and you will see.

half true, i admit.ther is also money made from iraqie oil is there for the reconstruction of the country, look at it, us coorporation are given small amount of money for the oil, and that money is in for the reconstructions. There is also money that has been lost from iraqie oil, something like 20bn in 3 years.

Hey, don't ever get the impression I am siding with oil companies, I don't think they run the world, but I don't like them nonetheless, as I don't banks and insurance companies. The war wasn't about oil, well it was indirectly to a certain extent, geopolitical strategy and security of Israel, I buy it.

Your English is fine, alot better than my French (sorry about that). Canadian companies were screaming because the US government wouldn't give them reconstruction contracts. My reply to that, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Sorry, but the real world doesn't work that way. Canada made it's choice, you can't expect to reep benefits without risks.

Look, I'm not Saddam, or our prick President. All I know is, $63 Billion for a food program that resulted in people starving sounds pretty fishy to me that Saddam had nothing to do with it.

I can buy it was a litle bit for israel and geopolitcal strategy, but it was mainly for oil. In 1998, richard perle, dick cheeney, well the pnac members, wrote a letter to bill clinton, saying iraqie oil was the best alternative for the american economy. An invasion of iraq would be welcome.

Saddam was a son of a %$^# , no doubt about it, but we cant always blame saddam for what we(western) did to them, i includes canada, cause we supported the sanctions in 1999.

According to 2 americans who worked for the sanctions in iraq(denis holiday and hans von sponek), said the one to blame on the united nations sanctions are usa, and uk, and everybody else that support the sanctions, they don t even blame saddam at all, if you have time, here is a good interview with denis halliday on oil for food scandals.

We're back to square one here, it wouldn't make sense to spend hundreds of billions of dollars to access something we had to begin with.

No we cannot blame Saddam for everything, because it is the West that helped him when it suited them.

We could chew on this for the next five years and go no place!

Bush took the Americans into Iraq in part because he needed a large project to take care of the huge unemployment in the US. He needed a project! We all know war isn't a paying project but it does get people on the payroll someplace.

The other reason he went in was rather juvinile; he wanted to set Saddam right for bad mouthing his Dad and in his words "finish the job my Dad started"

It's all crap! Nothing we vent here is going to change anything. The US are already trying to find a way to bale and can't. Dick Chaney is in solid with his Halliburton crew and a band of mercenearies to take care of the "US interest".

Colonialisim, pure and simple.

The odd thing is that I read in yesterday's National Post that an Iraqi General, second in command of the Iraqi air force under Hussein, claims there were WMDs in Iraq, and that they were shippen to the Ba'athist regime in Syria when it became obvious the US was going to attack................

I am not saying this is true.....you would think there would be more evidence than the word of one man.........

But what if Bush was right?
