Here is an article illustrating the LIE-beral enthusiasm for Fake News that distorts reality and twists logic into something surreal!
There is CLEARLY too much diplomacy in govt. How else to explain WHY Ontari-owe Conservatives such as Jack MacLaren are just now picking up on a piece of shameless LIE-beral policy that has been public knowledge for YEARS! Set out below is the column MacLaren wrote for the Sun along with some comments of my own in brackets):
Ontario green policies actually driving up carbon dioxide

The Ontario Liberals’ Green Energy Act is meant to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by generating power from wind turbines and solar panels. We already know this has turned into a wasteful boondoggle — just look at your hydro bill. But there’s another problem with the Green Energy Act, which I was shocked to learn about.
(There is a further issue being ignored here-related to hydro bills-LIE-berals have made HUGE and COSTLY promises to civil service union Hogs and these IOU`s have to be paid for somehow or else LIE-berals will suffer at election time-so they HIDE their electricity price gouging and union vote buying inside your hydro bills! Its why they sold off a SMALL portion of Hydro and then closed the books ENTIRELY to the public and to public auditors-NOBODY is allowed to know what LIE-berals have done with the extra thirty seven billion dollars that auditor Bonnie Lysyk says they have gouged us from us so far! And WHO bought that Hydro stock? Friends of LIE-berals-every one!)
A 2015 report from the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) makes the alarming case that Ontario green energy policy is actually driving up carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
Wind and solar energy seem like good, clean sources of energy. But wind power is intermittent, and about 40% of the generated power arrives when load demand is low. Solar energy is also intermittent and capacity is very low. All this means that wind and solar power are expensive and unreliable.
Basically, windmills and solar panels only produce power when the wind blows and the sun shines. They need backup in the form of other power sources to provide constant electricity when you need it. Ontario has gone with natural gas backup because that is the cheapest source of energy currently available. Other options were available, including nuclear and hydro plants, but natural gas was chosen.
This is unfortunate because nuclear and hydro do not emit CO2, but natural gas does. So as we dial down nuclear and hydro, we are doubling up on CO2 emissions from natural gas.
(What MacLaren overlooks is that it takes THREE DAYS to cycle up-and three MORE days to cycle DOWN a nuclear reactor-fully on to fully off or vice versa-thee days each way! Nuclear power simply cannot respond INSTANTLY to fluctuations in green energy. And govt NEEDS all the water power it can get-to offset the obscene prices being paid to FRIENDS of LIE-beral Party for their mouldy green energy! That leaves only natural gas fueled plants-kept at full steam-they are essentially STEAM driven generators-all day, every day, ready to swing into action whenever the wind don’t blow or the sun don`t shine. Green energy saves NOTHING-not the environment and certainly NOT tax payer cash!)
According to OSPE, Ontario currently produces electricity at less than 40 grams of CO2 per kWh. But wind and solar with natural gas backup release about 200 grams of CO2 per kWh.
Now, the trouble of building all the windmills and solar panels wouldn’t be so bad if it were actually worthwhile. But it isn’t. We do not have a cheap and effective way of storing the energy generated by wind and solar power. Simply put, storage is too expensive at the moment.
Adding solar and wind power to the Ontario grid just doesn’t make environmental or economic sense. Continuing to add wind and solar can only be justified on ideological grounds.
(MacLaren is right-LIE-berals are ideologically DRIVEN to offer up energy deals to their friends and allies! It is not ordinary tax payers who own those massive wind mills and the eye sore solar farms that have been forced into the lives of country residents! And who does own those monstrosities? Just run your fingers down the `sunshine list` of high govt earners and union Hogs! All that green energy is just LIE-berals doing what they do best-THEY BUY FRIENDS AND VOTES-and then LIE about the logic afterwards!)
(And for those who want to point out that some of those Big Wind monsters are owned by CAW-well sure-back in 2008, LIE-berals under Dalton McGinty saw a chance to BUY more votes and so GUARANTEED that they would not let CAW pension plan go bankrupt-not even if GM pulled out of Canada entirely! And how better to save CAW pensions than by giving them a RICH source of moudly green income! So what if LIE-berals have to LIE about the justification and too bad that Cdn tax payers think they are being gouged on electricity cost! All that matters is that LIE-berals get votes. We certainly cannot rely on GM to save itself by building good cars- IN CANADA- that the public WANTS to buy!!!)
Admittedly, the Wynne government announced a halt to further wind and solar contracts. I’m not sure how long they’ll put their ideology on hold, but this is a short-term solution anyway.
(LIE-berals can be counted on to RE-THINK their ENTIRE POLITICAL STRATEGY AFTER the next election in 2018. It wont matter if they win or lose-after 2018 it’s a new ball game! If LIE-berals win its because they have sold their souls to civil service union Hogs and will be taxing and revenue tooling us to death to pay for those promises-and then seeking creative new ways to renege on the promises after our economy starts to collapse because reality dictates we just don’t have the money to pay those promises! If LIE-berals lose that next election then look for a fantastic wave of labour unrest in all levels of govt as Hogs seek revenge on those who are trying to deny them gravy!)
We need to use more of our cheaper hydroelectric and nuclear power. And we need to stop exporting power abroad at low prices.
(Dimwit MacLaren really NEEDS to pay more attention to the electricity file-WE HAVE NO MORE HYDRO CAPACITY in Ontari-owe! There IS MASSIVE un-used hydro potential in Quebec-but that would require a major expansion of the James Bay Hydro station-which cannot currently be done as natives are blocking that project and govt-especially LIE-beral govt does not want to start world war three with natives. There is also the environmental reality of building the largest hydro dam on the planet-in a location FAR from major hydro users-and its COSTLY and difficult to ship electricity such long distances. When the Great Whale expansion of James Bay hydro was proposed, the LIE-beral Chretien govt was reluctant to get involved in complex political negotiations for the project-the James Bay power station is in Labrador but most of the area to be flooded is in Quebec and Chretien did not wish to deal with extortion minded separatists!)
(AS for exporting electricity abroad-under the insane terms of LIE-beral green energy contracts, LIE-berals are COMMITTED to buying ALL green energy that is produced by LIE-beral `friends` and that means electricity must be dumped some place-such as in United States at prices below what it cost to produce! LIE-berals had a chance to escape from the worst of the green energy deal as their `partners` had failed to meet several qualifications but LIE-berals renewed the deal anyway-with only some minor revisions and modest fiscal penalties!)
We all want to do the right thing for our environment and we all want clean air to breathe and water to drink. I sincerely believe it is important we strive for a cleaner and safer future.
But no one likes being misled or lied to. The Ontario Liberal government’s Green Energy Act is an environmental and economic disaster. As both a farmer and a civil engineer, I know about protecting the environment as well as long-term sustainability. Farming teaches you to understand the risks and benefits of co-operating with Mother Nature. Similarly, engineers are required to build things: We build things to last, and we do so in the public interest.
So I think most Ontarians would agree with me when I say that we need to have affordable, clean, reliable, and sustainable sources of energy which do not increase CO2.
Unfortunately the Green Energy Act just hasn’t got it right.

Social media like Twitter lacks depth, nuance, critical thinking, patience, degrees of thought... etc.

Maybe people are just stupid to begin with especially if people believed that the Pope endorsed Donald trump which was a thing apparently on Facebook.
My take on that, Johnny, is that news and events are reduced to a sound bite or a short Twitter response. People read tweets or FB posts, and respond in kind. Critical thinking and common sense go out the window, as people try to come up with something short and witty in response. Or worse, to jump on a trashing bandwagon.

What do you guys think about the possibility of subliminal messaging on social media?
For example a government or corporation comes out with a new written report, whether it be a policy change or a quarterly update. They spend a lot of money on the cover page and fancy wording in the body of the report while the real details are in the footnotes. Fancy wording like passing off revenue as profits for example, which are then clarified in footnotes.
We all know that the majority of people don't read the footnotes in what they read, heck even im guilty of that sometimes. Like who wants to flip to the back of the book or a report for clarification...
Its of my opinion that social media is like the cover page of the report i mentioned and that the footnotes are the research you have to do on your own which is a similar process to flipping to the back of a book for the footnotes.
So people constantly get bombarded by these "cover pages" online and in the end everyone has the same opinion about a topic, because how can a person with a 1000+ followers be wrong. Then subsequently people see that a majority believe this persons opinion and then copy that opinion into their own.
And next thing you know everyone is following the leader.
