I can't help but feel that being 'under oath' and expected to not lie to their people should be a function of a politician's appointment, period. I don't make a serious distinction between a lie in court and a lie outside of court. What other employee will you ever have in life who gets away with lying to your face, even when caught? Politicians are too prone to forgetting that's precisely what they are... OUR employees.

Right. Each and every president swears an oath at inauguration. Have they ALL done EVERYTHING they could do to serve the people and the country? Nope. Not even close.

And this lie had virtually zero to do with how well he did his job, versus the lies that get told that actually impact citizens' pocket books.

I don't think their sexual conduct should have any relevance at all to their job. I think that came from a by-gone era. I wouldn't care if he was blowing everyone if he was doing an amazing job at running the country.

Why would it even be an issue?

Why is anyone's marriage anyone's right to comment upon except for the two individuals concerned. or three individuals if they want. This bible based crap has to go.

Well, it kind of looks bad when you swear an oath to lead effectively and honorably and then start showing signs of breaking your marital oath.

Yeah but for all we know he went home and bragged to Hillary and got seconds and an 'atta boy'.

I think there is one thing that has to be fully understood by politicians and the electorate alike. A uniform definition of "promises" or better still changing the term to "endeavours". A politicians "promises" are limited to conditions remaining the same as when the promise was made. One thing that "trumps" promises is doing the best for the electorate as a whole. More important than keeping a "promise" is the ability to change to suit occuring changes of conditions!

I think what Willy and Monica had going on under the table should have been done during their coffee break and not destracting them from important issues of the day! Whether of not it was, was never made clear!

Yeah I'm not too hot on the marital oath either. One is either committed or one is not...it's that simple really.

Oaths are evil. :D
they only take this oath for 4 years, that should be do-able... marriage on the other hand is over rated and even by Chrisitan standards never meant to last as long as it does now

yes maybe time theft could be an accusation, but to be fair with the hours they put in each day I don't think we can quibble and sex relaxes people and allows them to concentrate better... he did it to save the nation...lol

Glad you set that straight (but they didn't concentrate quite hard enough to prevent the whole wide world from hearing about it) -:)

Hey, I'm atheist and wifey's agnostic. Been hanging together for about 28 years now. We like it. :D
That is so awesome. congratulations on growing together :toothy8::flower: Very cool.

I don't think that the public should concern themselves with their leaders sex life or their neighbour's and friends for that matter UNLESS it involves a minor, or coercion. I thought that Hilary's appearance on talk shows, and having to satisfy America's voyeuristic appetites was disgusting and entirely unnecessary. More disgusting than anything he did with another consenting adult.

We really need to get past believing that we have the right to be in anyone else's bedroom but our own. It is medieval. Although come to think of it, they likely cared even less.

Our moral halo has slipped.

Sex definitely leads to relaxation. And concentration? ... for sure, I can't think of anything besides wifey for a while after.
lol... excellent.

yes because Monika was young and that sleazy bitch Linda Tripp recorded her conversations... basically took advantage of her...more than Clinton did.

When I hear that name I always smile. My wife says "Linda Tripp tripped over her big trap"!- -:)

Ordinarily, I don't really give a crap about people's sexual habits, but when they break oaths, IMO, they can't be trusted.
yes, we all have different standards by which we judge a person's honestly...from what I have read, the one who was most faithful was apparently Nixon.
