In terms of us looking after critters does our ability and caring stop where cuddly stops. With some crritters it would be mor a matter of accepting that you will most likely be doing what 'it' wants to do.

One of the reasons I like cats. You are not their master. You have to think how to get them too cooporate. I have avoided people who hate cats based on their independance. I figure if you dislike something because you can't control it, then for my safety I will maintain a wide berth.

I love nature. I love animals. I enjoy relationships with animals where they can reciprocate. I know that an alligator or crocodile, shark, etc is not going to return affection. But I still think they're beautiful and interesting...just not the kind I want to pet or have in my house.

Twila... you're a great forum pal.

But the Wildebeests photos shall continue.

Yes. We would not want to see you improve and grow up.

Source? Context?

Genesis 3;22.

Context is the usual misogynistic attitude of Christian men towards women. Women are to be chattel and men are to have as many as they can afford.

Remember that these are old Jewish writers.

Thanks for your reply, FP. In my NIV Bible, the source is Genesis 3:16 and the context is broken trust between creation and Creator:

"So the Lord God said to the serpent, 'Because you have done this, 'Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers;
he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.'
To the woman he said, 'I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.'
To Adam he said, 'Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ 'Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:14-19 NIV)

In biblical context, the damaged relationship with the Creator results in damaged relationships within creation.

Is there a remedy?

Absolutely.

Christianity reversed the moral of the story that the originators of it had put on it. That of man's elevation.

To repair the relationship that you speak of, all Christianity has to do is read the story the Jewish way and repair the damage they have done top Christianity by calling what we have a fall.

2. Orthodox Judaism: The Garden of Eden

The Church cannot do as suggested without admitting to having lied to it's flock all of these years.

Then again, they are money driven and do not care about shame.

Agree, FP. There is a remedy:
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." (Matthew 7:7-8 NIV)

Quoting sure beats thinking. That is why literalist are so clueless.

Would you agree that "ad hominem" comments add nothing of substance to the discussion, FP? You presume incorrectly that all biblical Christians are literalists.

All who believe in Jesus as a real person must read some of the bible literally.
That is the only primary source for the literal Jesus that Christianity knows.

Christians are idol worshipers and do not seek God as Jesus preached to do. They have settled for a Godinabook whose morals are more satanic like than God like.

All who believe in Jesus as a real person must read some of the bible literally.

And so we should, FP.

"One of the most important aspects of the human side of the Bible is that, in order to communicate his Word to all human conditions, God chose to use almost every available kind of communication: narrative history, genealogies, chronicles, laws, poetry, proverbs, prophetic oracles, riddles, drama, biographical sketches, parables, letters, sermons, and apocalypses.
To interpret the 'then and there' of the biblical texts, you must not only know some general rules that apply to all the words of the Bible, but you also need to learn that special rules that apply to each of these literary forms (genres)."
Fee, Gordon D. & Stuart, Douglas. (2003). How to Read the Bible For All Its Worth. Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan.

Some literary genres necessitate a literal interpretation. Others do not. Discernment is needed. Both inspiration and education are useful in this regard.

Your assessment of Christians indicates that you have never encountered or are unable to recognize one, FP. This too can be remedied. Spending time with Christ will enhance your ability to recognize Him in others.

Few have developed the Christ mind so I agree that they are hard to find and recognize. Do you know any?

It is to those who have a Godinabook to recognize the Christ mind in me.

They are the blind who only see an idol. Not I.

If they are not blind then they will reject the scapegoat Jesus and will pick up their cross as Jesus said and follow him.

They will then follow me into a superior theology. Gnostic Christianity.

Christ's words to the Christians living in gnostic Laodicea in Paul's earthly day:

"I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ." (Colossians 2:1-4,8 NIV)
