So you are saying the Conservative Party are fascists?
The millions of Canadians who voted Conservative are little Mussolini's and Nazis? Those are Fascists.
Do you deny the NDP are not the Old Socialist Party?

Pathetic.

RE: Is Everyone Happy Wit

Well, I am neither happy with a government or unhappy, it's one corrupt regime after another.

Martin wasn't a bad PM, he was cleaning up a lot of stuff that he had no control over and you can be sure that someone who was the PM before didn't want him in.

Harper will do ok, no better, no worse than any other PM IMO.

The secret is that whoever gets into power here, their policies always drift towards the middle of the road,so party labels mean little.
Well, that was my guess... Pretty good really. From my perspecitve canadian politicians dont seem to have very much power over citizens every day life (thanks to not that high taxes and the fact that Canada is a federation), and all (both?) political options are alike (some sort of middle/liberal/consensus politics?).

I am jealous.

Canada has no elected representation. We elect people to create the illusion of a democracy.

The government administrators and employed directors for life rule as they please and the power is passed around amongst friends and relatives.

Nothing to be jealous about.

Can you name a country that does have a "democratic government?" At least we let *most* of our citizens vote and we don't kick people who are unlikely to vote for you off the rolls (Moore's film). The problem is, Canada has no term limit on the PM, whats why we got stuck with one crappy scandal filled PM for way too long.

Power corrupts, we should kick each government out every 4 years and hopefully they won't be so corrupt.

Changing elected representatives is not democracy if the Government remains intact for generations. The government is not the people elected here, it is the bureaucracies and senior administrators with life-long public jobs they inherited or got handed from the ones before them.

This is the problem with Canada. The elected do not clean-out the non-elected bureaucrats every four years, which us what should happen if we had any semblance of democracy here.

Well, I think it was about the best that could have been hoped for. The Liberals couldn't have stayed in power after the mess of the last year.

On the other hand, Stephen Harper is Prime Minister in name only. He cannot push through any part of his agenda without compromising heavily with the other parties.

Personally, I think the other parties would do well to each send a representative to meet with the Premiers and iron out a continuation of the National Day Care Program. The result could be introduced as a Private Members bill and passed through the House and the Conservatives wouldn't be able to stop it.

So true IAC,

as the old saying goes, "the real power is behind the thrown".

Unfortunately too many of those with the real power spend their lives heating chairs on the public payroll and have no other function except to screw the taxpayers everyway they can think of.
