Mercedes eCantor delivery trucks start operation in US and Japan for UPS and 7-11. They are a typical cab over cube van except they are electric. They can carry 9000 lbs and do shorter routes - under 100 miles. They have a 60 -80 mile range and can quick charge up to 80% in an hour. They are seen as ideal for dense cities like New York and Tokyo but not so much for a place like LA.
and to answer the topic question - yes and no. Canada has some really good hi tech companies but by and large we are shackled to oil and gas and will have to endure massive resistance to change from these dying sectors. Their ability to control our politics is especially damaging to progress.

If it was worth it, everyone would have jumped on board already when Alberta got shut down due to low oil sell cost. 5 billion dollars of investment money left the oil industry . You got NFC as usual
Lithium battery manufacturing costs way to much. Thats not caused by oil manufacturers.
Its caused by the process taking way to much time, and yields being way to little. Until someone figures out a process with much better results, the electric car is dead in the water, Unless you have a population like in Dubai who can afford 120000$ cars, while selling us oil.

So for a car with comparable capacity to a gas powered car.

Equals 140000$.
35000$ for 1/4 of a car is not «*pretty comparable pricing*» for anyone not drinking the kool aid and who has a IQ higher then Forest Gump

If everything is good then why is there a 7 year waiting list to buy one. Everyone can buy one. Why can’t they produce the batteries faster?

How much energy is used to make the vehicle? How is the electricity made? What's the battery life? How far can you travel on one charge? How is the battery disposed of?
