"Due to the potential for continuing and growing conflict related to today’s federal agent-involved shooting, Sheriff Dawanna Witt has requested assistance from the Minnesota National Guard to support our deputies at the Whipple Federal Building so that we can reallocate deputies to other areas in need of support in the county," the sheriff's office said.

"Their job will be to assist the Sheriff’s Office in protecting life, preserving property, and helping to ensure the safety of all community members."

Walz had previously placed the National Guard on standby following previous federal agent shootings, including that of Good and of a Venezuelan national shot in north Minneapolis on Jan. 14.
On Saturday, Gov. Walz said that the government's "Operation Metro Surge," which has seen 3,000 federal agents deployed to the state to conduct immigration enforcement, needs to end.

"This federal occupation of Minnesota long ago stopped being a matter of immigration enforcement, it's a campaign of organized brutality against the people of our state, and today that campaign claimed another life," he said.

Walz slammed the Trump administration Saturday, declaring state authorities would probe the fatal shooting of Alex Jeffrey Pretti. “The federal government cannot be trusted to handle this investigation,” Walz said during a news conference.
“They killed a man, created chaos, pushed down protesters, threw gas indiscriminately and then left the scene and then we’re left to clean up,” the governor claimed.

“Minnesota’s justice system will have the last word on this,” he blustered, demanding President Trump withdraw federal agents from the state.
“I call on you once again: remove this force from Minnesota,” Walz said.
Ever wonder what was like during the Bolshevik Revolution? Now you know.

ICE is trained by the IDF and it shows.

Interesting article.

ICE training is 42 days in length. I’m assuming the IDF’s it is a bit longer. Hundreds of demonstrators braved freezing weather to protest against the shooting of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care nurse, during a confrontation on Saturday morning.

Multiple videos from the scene - taken from different angles - show the “scuffle” (?) between six or seven federal immigration officers and Pretti simultaneously.

Federal and state authorities have offered conflicting versions of what happened in the moments leading to the shooting, which took place less than three weeks after an agent killed Renee Good in her car in Minneapolis.

The Trump administration is characterising the moments leading up to Pretti's death as an attack by him, claiming he approached officers with a handgun and, after he violently resisted attempts to disarm him, a border patrol agent fired in self defence…& then there’s multiple video footage out there of what actually happened.

Videos show no evidence to support the claim he used any armed force to threaten agents, instead showing him pepper-sprayed, wrestled to the ground and shot - after an agent appeared to remove a gun from the scuffle.

The Trump administration has described Pretti as a "domestic terrorist". However, the Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz has described its account as "nonsense and lies."
1769351493951.jpeg
From this angle and perspective, this is gotta be video from the woman in the pink coat. Videos from the moments before the shooting show Pretti filming agents with his phone in the middle of the street, while he was taking part in protests against the immigration crackdown in the city.

Pretti was seen filming as a federal agent appeared to push away one woman and shove another woman to the ground.

Video appears to show Pretti moving between the agent and a women, raising his left arm to shield himself as the agent then sprays a substance in his eyes.

The videos show several agents then taking hold of Pretti and forcing him onto the ground.

An officer, who appears to approach the scuffle with empty hands, pulls back with what appears to be a gun in his hand.

As he moves away, a split second later another agent standing beside him opens fire. The agents jump back from the man lying on the ground and the firing continues.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said Pretti "was there to perpetuate violence", saying he approached federal agents with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun…licensed, permitted, in a holster, that he didn’t display or brandish, following his second amendment rights.

She said an agent feared for his life and other officers' lives when he fired (about a dozen, in two sets) "defensive shots". Pretti "committed an act of domestic terrorism," Noem claimed?

Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino told a press conference on Saturday that it looked like Pretti wanted to "massacre" law enforcement (?) with the camera on his cell phone, which was the only thing in his hands the entire time?

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara said the man who was killed was a lawful gun owner with no criminal record other than traffic violations.

An individual approached agents with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun, Bovino said, and the agents "attempted to disarm the individual but he violently resisted".

"Fearing for his life... a Border Patrol agent fired defensive shots," Bovino added.
But Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz has strongly disputed this account as "lies".

"I've seen the video from several angles and it's sickening," he said.
"Thank God, thank God, we have video because, according to DHS, these seven heroic guys took an onslaught of a battalion against them or something. It's nonsense, people. It is nonsense, and it's lies," he told a press conference.
And now the Michigan National Guard enters the mix. President Donald Trump said local and state officials were "inciting insurrection", suggesting without evidence that they called off local police from protecting federal immigration officers at the shooting scene.

It’s potentially lethal, but it’s not illegal.”

A masked ICE agent warned a woman in Portland, Maine, that her information would be entered into a “nice little database” that would label her a domestic terrorist. Her infraction? Peacefully filming the immigration agency’s street activity. A person no longer needs to commit a crime in order to be considered a criminal in Donald Trump’s America.

Maybe this is another one of those weird Schrödinger’s cat situations?

“It’s not illegal to record,” the woman can be heard saying in a video posted Friday by self-described activist Nathan Bernard.

“Exactly, that’s what we’re doing,” the agent responds.

“Yeah, why are you taking my information down?” she asked.

“Because we have a nice little database, and now you’re considered a domestic terrorist,” he responded, sending her laughing.
“For videotaping you? Are you crazy?” she snarked.

But that is the current reality under the rule of the Department of Homeland Security. A leaked security threats assessment, obtained and published Wednesday by independent journalist Ken Klippenstein, revealed the department’s intention to shift the definition of domestic terrorism towards a much broader Trumpier one, encompassing a new subset of individuals acting on “class-based or economic grievances.”

As Klippenstein pointed out in his Substack, that could refer to any American.
The term, “Documented Credibility Issues” has now entered the vocabulary.

Well, I’m seeing a potential tug-of-war and not sure which way things are going to flip-flop.
On average it takes 17 days to form a habit.
Well, that’s good, I guess. I’m going to assume that the average soldier or law-enforcement officers training is more than 17 days? Just an assumption on my part.

(YouTube & National Guard ACTIVATED in Minnesota after CBP-involved shooting)

The Insurrection Act of 1807, or just the Insurrection Act, is the U.S. federal law that empowers the president of the United Statesto nationally deploy the Armed Forces and to federalize the National Guard units of the individual states in specific circumstances, such as the suppression of civil disorder, of insurrection, and of armed rebellion against the federal government.

The Minnesota National Guard are Minnesotans…so…if Trump counters the Minnesota Governor with the insurrection act…then what happens?

The Insurrection Act provides a statutory exception to the Posse Comitatus Act (1878) that limits the President's deploying the U.S. military to enforce either civil law or criminal law within the United States.
Getting away with murder.

In the U.S., basic training is 8-12 weeks, depending on the service. That's just basic stuff. . . how to march, how to wear and care for uniforms, customs and courtesies, hygiene, and the rudiments of military law.

Job training can be anything from zero (for a few common fields it's just on-the-job training) to two years, depending on the specialty.

So about the same as a reservist.

Look into the lowered bar for qualification and background.
For some reason, this makes me think of the Saturday Night Live skits from days gone by for “Lowered Expectations”…
Even better times.
For a reservist for…basic training? Before any specialization whatsoever?

Basic training for Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) reserves, called Basic Military Qualification (BMQ), is typically a condensed version of the Regular Force training, often completed over weekends (around 9-12 weekends) during fall/winter or as a concentrated summer course (around 9 weeks), allowing part-time members to gain the same foundational military skills as full-time personnel. The exact timing varies by branch and unit, but it focuses on core military life, drill, first aid, weapon handling, field skills, and fitness, followed by specialized trade training.

I think in the US for basic for reserves it’s the same as reg force. I could be wrong, but I think I’ve seen that somewhere in the last couple of days.

I’m think’n this “might” demonstrate a lack of understanding empathy respect for civilians rights the US Constitution training on the part of the 6-7 officers on top of Pretti but my opinion is from the outside, looking in, via many many different angles of video footage.

They are trained differently by IDF than Reservists of regrular militaries. If we we're to see how AI is used to "target individuals" and the the surveillance behind it all was developed to oppress Palestinians. It's an unrolling of the system in America.

No idea, & no idea why a Judge would have to do this either…with respect to a law enforcement agency I mean.
The outrageous refusal by the feds to allow local authorities to properly secure the crime scene or gather evidence further inflames tensions with state and city police. The lack of accountability for federal officers has undermined the administration’s claims that this is about law and order. The local population clearly wants the roughly 3,000 immigration officers now deployed around the Twin Cities to leave.

But their invidious attempts to blacken the memory of Alex Pretti, falsely describing him as a “domestic terrorist”, may serve as a turning point that sparks mass resistance towards the President and the thuggish regime that he leads.

Good, 37, was shot dead on 7 January by an ICE agent who fired into the mother-of-three’s SUV, which she had stopped sideways in the street at the scene of an immigration raid. Trump supporters have claimed Good tried to “weaponise” her car and drive at officers, also labelling her a “domestic terrorist”.

However, as in the Pretti killing, videos of the shooting contrast starkly with this account. Both Good and Pretti were American citizens. Neither were a target of Trump’s mass deportation goons.

From the President on down, top Trump administration officials have engaged in such brazen, false claims about both killings that they have left themselves with little room to maneuver in the face of rising public fury. Day after day, the country soaks up increasingly violent images of ICE and Border Patrol officers brutalising not only illegal immigrants, but US citizens as well.

In a staggering letter on Saturday night, US Attorney General Pam Bondi accused Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey – both Democrats – of refusing “to enforce the law” and of “putting federal agents in danger”.

Among her sweeping demands, she even asked the state of Minnesota to hand over its electoral register, further fuelling concerns that the White House is seeking to interfere with the conduct of November’s mid-term elections. For his part, Trump has threatened to invoke the 1807 Insurrection Act and flood Minneapolis with even more military force.

Such is the backlash that Pretti’s defenders include the powerful, pro-gun National Rifle Association, which posted on social media that “responsible public voices should be awaiting a full investigation, not making generalizations and demonizing law-abiding citizens”. A poll conducted for Politico before Pretti’s killing showed rising concern within Trump’s Make America Great Again movement about the tactics of his federal agents. “Documented Credibility Issues” indeed.
An ICE officer shot 37-year-old Renee Good in her car on January 7. The Department of Homeland Security said the officer had fired "defensive shots" after Good attempted to run him over, though online videos of the shooting verified by Reuters “cast doubt” on the government's narrative.

ICE agents shot 37-year-old Alex Pretti in a separate incident on January 24. DHS said Pretti approached with a handgun and violently resisted attempts to disarm him, “though bystander videos verified by Reuters show Pretti - whom Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara said carried a handgun lawfully - holding a phone as he tries to help protesters whom agents pushed to the ground.”

Elections are scheduled to be held in the United States, in large part, on November 3, 2026. In this U.S. midterm election, scheduled to occur during Republicanpresident Donald Trump's non-consecutive second term, all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate will be contested to determine the 120th United States Congress. 39 state and territorial U.S. gubernatorialelections, and numerous state and local elections, will also be contested.

Nope, for reservists basic training and specialty training is exactly the same, and in the same classes as the regulars. It's just that after the training, reservists (unless called up) serve one weekend a month and two weeks in the summer. We have reserve units who all work together, and "Individual Mobilization Augmentees" who serve in a regular unit for their required time.

Unless they're called up cuz there's TERRA-RISTS! to be murdered, of course.
