You got that right. He's like a little mini-me of Bush

Then why was he all proud of the denial of the space tech deal? If the above was true, he should have had his signature of approval right on the dotted line and then the US could spy on all our vast KM's of snow and ice.

(Then again they could use the Sat's technology to see the huge military buildup we have hiding under the ice just waiting to invade the US)

What a hypocrit but it does not surprise me. This is typical. And Canadians call us arrogant...yet ignore their own arrogance.

To be fair, thats MikeyDB saying that..give us some credit. We dont' act like Ann Coulter is the definitive guide on American popular opinion.

"Well one good part about McCaine winning is that it will give peoples lives more meaning here on CC. "

McLame is associated with ministers who are even more bigoted than Wright.

I cannot understand why no 'issue' at all was made of McCain's minister, not that either
story is really important, but do it to one, then do it to the other.

The ministers are not running for president, and Obama's speech shortly after, was very
wise and inspirational and should be remembered by all.

If Harper had of been prime minister at that time what authority would he have needed
before he could have sent troops to Iraq.

And, we all know that there are some canadian troops fighting the iraq war anyway right?
In certain capacities.

To our poor American friends....

Who elected George Bush?

Who continues to finance an illegal invaision?

Who's more arrogant than an American prepared to say black is white and white is black when they're talking about their misdeeds?

Americans are arrogant and not too swift.... and I'm hardly the first or only person to make this entirely valid observation.

Maybe next you can talk about how the French are all cowards, the British all have bad teeth and the Chinese are all short?

Any other nationalistic bullplop you'd like to spit out?

He also has to show his independance from the US in order to keep the Canadian voting public happy to a sort. If he agrees and goes along with "everthing" George tells him to do, Canadians will grow short with him. Once his rating goes down and down to a point where the Liberals feel it is safe to call an election along with a little more mud against him such as what is happening at the present with the election spending investigation. His minority gov. will be turfed.

So do you understand now why certain situations go the way they go, such as the space tech deal.

It makes Canadians feel like he is actually on their side and standing up for Canadians......it is all a smoke screen.

I wouldn't be smug. Canada is lucky. If Harper was PM at the time of the Iraq invasion, we would have been part of it. Posts on this forum show Canadians are just as easily fooled as Americans.

I agree.

Our politicians are starting to use some of the dirty tricks the ones to the south use and it seems to be working. I haven't seen any evidence which suggests we are somehow less prone to them. We have made many blunders but they are smaller and less significant only because we are smaller and less significant. When a bull is loose in the china shop people ignore the rabbit.

Not really, there was an actual reason to go into Afghnistan the question is; was it worth it?

I don't think it was.

Given that nearly two hundred thousand well equipped Russians got their hat handed to them....given that despite acknowledging that the poppy crop is used to fund warlords and provides a source for funding for terrorists....given that the resources of our great "friend" to the south are bogged down in a war in Iraq...that had nothing whatever to do with the Taliban and Al Qeada (those repsonsible for criminal acts against the United States) how much money blood and energy is it reasonable to continue to fight a war in Afghanistan that America abandoned? Now certainly there are American forces on the ground but if the notion that "Nations who harbor terrorists will be held accountable"...as the moron from Crawford yammered about...who then promptly sent the might of his nations military off in another fraudulent direction.... Why hasn't the great American military been able to find and bring Bin Ladin to justice? Why is it that we have this "committment" to NATO that sees our people dying and our domestic budget being spent on a war that America claimed was critical to stem the tide of "terrorism"?

It's simply another way of America funding its programs of militarism to evoke an agreement (NATO) as rationale for world support...while acting independently when it came to the U.N. role in Iraq and despite discounting the applicability of the Geneva Conventions when it came to Gitmo and and and and....

Canadians are sucking the teat of Americans and aren't prepared to call it a lie...when all the evidence collected clearly establishes that it is a lie and that America once again creates a mess it then claims as the "world's responsibility"....

Lies on top of lies.

I think I already stated that it wasn't worth it, just justified.
