I was merely pointing out that some like to cheer on radical laws as a simple
method of putting an end to such crimes. Banning all guns, castrating all sex
offenders and executing all fraudsters. You may do any or all of these things
but the problem does not go away it remains.
Iran is a theological hell hole and religion at its worst is the cause, much like
the tyrants of the Christina faith a few generations ago and more recently in
Uganda where they have taken control of Government for the most part.
The post refers to the bankers nightmare but it would be societies nightmare
in actuality
Cheering it on and actually going with the concept are two different things.

I view this crime as more heinous than rape or murder because in someways it is merely rape and murder on a huge scale. It victimizes and ruins lives.

I am not pro death penalty but that doesn't mean I can not at times see the benefit for society even though it may cost more to execute than it does to jail for life by the time they finish all the appeals. I can see how just one such execution with the threat of more to come would give this type of white collar crime a bit of a slow down. It would at least stem 50% of the bleed in our political arena.

Frankly we just don't have another answer, and that is why we cheer. It's because as of yet we have not found a method to ensure the honesty of bankers and businessmen and politicians. We can't protect the little guy who works hard his whole life, whose ethics and morals are decent.

It's that 2% who are in the minority that actually have all of the power. We just pretend we do. So I cheer for a moment and I don't allow myself to think of the actual removal of their stone cold heart beat. Just for a moment.

Cheering it on is, for most people, the emotional first reaction that let's people express their anger, frustration and sorrow. Most don't continue on in that vein, cooler heads will typically prevail. That being said there is a rational argument to be made for the death penalty. I don't particularly subscribe to it, but it does exist.

Iran: Death Sentences for Fraud

Tags:
An Iranian court on Monday confirmed the death sentences for four people convicted of participating in a $2.6 billion embezzlement scheme, the biggest fraud in Iran’s history. The four bankers and businessmen, including Mahafarid Amirkhosravi, the chief executive of the Arya Investment Group, were convicted of “disturbing the country’s economic system through collusion and corruption in the banking network.” They cannot appeal the court’s decision.

What a waste of perfectly good forced labour. Certainly the state could have recouped some money or at least free labour from them through a life of prison labour.

Amazing the stuff we find in history ain't it. There in the remote past the problem with private banking was studied and the fix arrived at by long diligent investigation and discussion after which the now ages old treatment was agreed upon and adhered to while the facts remained visible to the people. We are a very ignorant remnant of what we once were.

If the fundamentalists had their way in this country a lot of them would be facing a similar fate endured by those bankers in Iran.
