I have eight posts on this thread.

The first one, simply asked why the title of the thread contains the word that is no longer acceptable. I knew even then that the usual suspects will attack and expressed it in my post #21.

In none of the posts did I mention any treaty or my dissatisfaction with any treaties.

If there ever was an award for putting words in someone else's mouth (or posts, as it were) you bloody mimosas would have to share the prize.

As the old saying goes: A wise man speaks when he has something to say. A fool speaks because he hast say something.

You've bitched about it in the past. So, no, I am not putting words in your mouth.

Some people remember and hold a grudge for what happened to their ancestors 100 or more years ago.
And they demand special considerations, money and jobs they never earned, based on on ancient history.
Ya, I don't subscribe to that ideology myself.

I do subscribe to criminal acts being addressed. The theft of land being rectified. The out right misuse or theft of funds, being addressed. The adherence to a treaty process and interpretation precedent, set by the Crown themselves. And so on.

Pardon me, if I remember and hold a grudge for what happened to me, personally, far more recently, while never demanding anything I never earned based on the the colour of my skin.
So what would be the cop out, if the First Nations were Caucasian?

The Treaties exist, and were written, not because of race, but because of the simple law of possession.

Trying to make it about race is weak.

And for those politically correct, the sound of an accent can be, and often was just as discriminating as skin colour.
Ya, my new neighbours have already discriminated against me. They have a Russian accent. Although I think his problem has more to do with being a citiot, than Russian. I can't wait until he's finished building his new fence, in the post holes I paid for, that he refuses to pay me half for. So I can thank him for the brand new 100% mine, fence he built 100% on my property. Something he isn't aware of, lol.

And my point about quitting smoking was that I had the strength of character to do so.
And your point? More Non Natives smoke, than Natives.

And by the way...

The name Yukon is from the Locheux Native word "Yuk-un-ah" which means "great river." It refers to the Yukon River which flows across the Yukon territory into Alaska.

I just thought you might like the taste of a little irony on a hot Sunday morning.

They just happen to look like Africans? I suppose the Mayans were bull****ting when they wrote about Quetzalcoatl a white man with a white beard in a robe too?

All Columbus did was gave an old legned a shot that if you sail toward Venus in the evening you'll come to a new place of great wealth. and sail toward Venus in the morning to get home.

That the Azrecs believed such stories for visitors that, if they came, they came very very rarely. Closed societies don't get much news, and when they actually get news, they can't help but do the wrong thing because new events violate tradition, and tradition has nothing constructive to say about the future.

There was no plan westward for Europeans or Africans if they accidentally crossed the ocean. Evidence is too scant as a result. Some of them must have hit such an immense land mass, even by accident. We need hidden city, a small one would be fine, filled with Roman, Etruscan, Celtic, or Phoenician artifacts. But there is nothing to compare with the tiny hamlet of L'Anse Aux Meadows-which was forgotten by Europeans shortly after it failed.

It didn't cost much to send Columbus across the ocean. All the capitalists had to do was safely sit in Europe, count their dough and wait for news. They wanted China, Columbus wanted China, but got something else. Something much bigger and better. Us, the US too, vast new markets and the start of progress that is now unstoppable. Now everyone is looking at China.

You call trashing our forests, ripping up the land, killing off hundreds of species, poisoning our air and water, rounding up the indigenous population and herding them onto the most desolate and useless land in the country PROGRESS? I call it greed, stupidity and avarice. Humanity is poised to self destruct and you call it progress. We are like a cancer eating its host until it kills the host and you call that progress. I call that demented.

It's too bad you've never had contact with societies that pre-date "Canadian society" which our culture is based on.

To most people in Canada and the USA, there are no Indians, physically they exist, but culturally they have vanished. Europeans are extinguishing their own traditional cultures that have no interest in progress. Peasant cultures and aboriginals have much in common, they both are based on village life, want to work as little as possible in their subsistence economies, don't believe in democracy or equality, are religious, and don't believe in women's rights. What's to like?

The process can seem cruel, but the traditional world is vanishing and there is no going back. I saw a show with traditional peoples in the jungles of Indonesia, but in western countries, it's over.

Here's another post for you to ignore dump...

Oh the irony... The same thing can be applied to you.

To most people in Canada and the USA, there are no Indians, physically they exist, but culturally they have vanished.

Neat opinion, it's a shame it flies in the face of reality.

Europeans are extinguishing their own traditional cultures that have no interest in progress.
Didn't you post a thread on the tobacco trade?

Peasant cultures and aboriginals have much in common, they both are based on village life, want to work as little as possible in their subsistence economies, don't believe in democracy or equality, are religious, and don't believe in women's rights.

Neat opinion. How many times do I have to prove it wrong?

What's to like?
If you were actually aware of the monumental mosaic of the real First Nations. Instead of your myopic notions and misconceptions you think are the truth. You wouldn't have to ask.

Unless there was something under the surface driving your opinion.

The process can seem cruel, but the traditional world is vanishing and there is no going back.
Do you understand the difference between 'traditionalist's' and 'traditions'?
