Wait is someone saying if a Christian votes he must vote his religion
and not by the will of those who elected him? No no leave religion out
of politics. One does not have to be a believer in anything in order to
do the right thing. It is time we put religion behind us in many respects
it is divisive. Now one having faith is not a problem only when it supersedes
others rights in an open society. I know what about the religious persons
rights, well in church or home that's fine but just like the Jew the Muslim or the
anything else Canada is a secular nation

The morals of our Govt are or aren't based on Christian morals.

Would we be where we are without Christian morals?

Canada so far has largely managed to keep religion out of politics. One of the more annoying aspects of US politicians is their constant religious blathering and the media's focus on whether or not a politician is also a good Christian. Bible thumpers in general are not popular in Canada so far as politics is concerned. Even Harper stayed away from religious based issues such as abortion when he was in power, realizing that it was not a vote-getter. I'm certain these anti-abortionist could probably find a suitably narrow-minded political party to join if they really wanted to.

Maybe... maybe we would be better off... maybe the base of our morality would be interest in the whole of society succeeding and less about self service like most religions are..

I guess we will never know since we can't role back the clock and prevent the "morality" of the Christian faith from seeping into our government... setting up the residential schools... raping and killing the first nation children in the name of their religion... and so forth.

I guess there is plenty of room in the conservative camp for the religious to serve in public office. I myself believe in the separation of church and state... and am glad that the liberals have a pro choice stance on abortion. Good for Justin.

So you support the murder of innocent children. Good to know.

Government set up the residential schools. Yes, many were operated by religious orders, but they were set up and supported by the Canadian government.

Also, the government did operate some of the schools themselves

Abortion isn't the murder of innocent children...that is just your personal belief system talking...

My point being the Govt that was set up with Christian morals... the ones someone earlier in the thread seemed to think is how we should continue to be governed... by Christian morals
