That's why they should get citizenship. Send citizenship handouts and such to neighborhoods with large illegal pops.

No. We need to enforce and strengthen the regulations about hiring illegals so people won't give them jobs. Maybe then the wage of some of the lower jobs will go up and people can make a living at them.

My family and I went through the four years of beaurocratic crap to get our green cards. You think I want to see someone illegal hop in and get rewarded for breaking the law?

Good point, thecdn.

Very good point.

Also, Assimilation requires the following
honorable guideliness:

1. Do you want people sneaking into your country
who have to live like scared dogs ? If you have
millions of illegals worried and distrustful that someone
is going to rat them out or extort bribery, you are
not doing them any favors, are you ???

2. When one is a guest in another country, they
don't have to agree with the culture of that
country, but as a guest I will not come in to trash
my host's house. I must respect the rules. I must
respect my host's house.

3. I believe in border control for not the usual reasons
of people ascribing paranoia to it. Hell, I just ran
an after school program of chess for 100 Latino kids,
mostly from Mexico, at two elementary schools down
here.

By the way I believe in border control and enforcement
with employers, but if the two elementary schools
had forced me to register and determin who among
the 100 latino kids were illegal --- that would have
destroyed the whole afterschool chess program and I
would have felt like a creep assisting the government
that way.

So yes, this is a complicated issue that faces every
1st world nation from the US to Canada to France to
Germany to the United Kingdom.

Nah, they would find a way. And its hard to find someone who can easily melt into the general population.

Jersay is right about this. I grew up in South Texas, and I can't remember ever seeing a train heading north that didnt have an extra few passengers on it. While a fence might slow some of the illegal immigration down, its not going to come close to stopping it.
I don't think there are enough National Guard members to man every 50 yard of a fence from Brownsville, TX to San Diego, CA. 24 hours a day. And thats what it would take.

I never have had a problem with immigrants coming here as long as it was to make a better life for themselves. Hell, if they want to come here and pick oranges all day long and send the money back home to poor family members, I say let them. Without illegals, some kinds of work just arent going to get done. Mostly because employers in the west and the south have become used to paying the illegals next to nothing for the back breaking work they do.

I'd love to see the look on the face some 15 or 16 year old youth of America who is used to air conditioning and Xbox360 when an employer told them they were going to give them $15 for picking weeds from a cotton field for 18 hours. That kid would most likely flip the prospective employer the bird, and return to downloading ringtones and listening to his ipod.
