We (the UK) dont actually have one, we EVEN sent the queen to sign it for you, there was no struggle, it was just a simple request on the part of your prime minister....in fact our government probably thought it was a bleedin good idea, and took a bit of weight off our necks!!!.

Agreed. I'm 52 and despair at the lack of democracy in Canada of 2006.
No politicians, please. Especially not John A. Macdonald. We have a myth in Canada about Confederation as some type of wonderful liberation. It was a sell out and stifled real democracy and independence for another 70 years. confederation was the cumulation of beating back the real democratic movements that started in the rebellions of the 1840's.
No people. The groupie nationalists will want someone like Pierre Burton or Wayne and Shuster. Then the political correctos would have to search the history books for a Muslim black woman.
