I filled out application to become a NDP member. Making my party proud and making it a party that is capable of being a force in Canadian politics is my objective. I will make Jack layton proud by fundraising for his candidate in my riding (London North Centre) so that the NDP wins for sure. Goodness I'm so excited to finally be in the NDP. All this for only 15 dollars a year!

Welcome to being involved in political parties!

I am a member of the Conservative Party of Canada, and make donations every year.

I live in Brandon-Souris riding, which has been Tory land forever, (1 exception for 1 term after Mulroney)

So, I have family in Winnipeg, and on the weekends of elections I go into Wpg. battle-ground ridings and campaign for the Conservatives, and fundraise for them. If this election falls in the summer during my vacation time I will be out in full force this year!

I smell election in the air, the Liberals are beginning to set up their troops, the Conservatives are, the NDP are, all denial of election but its going to happen, and we are going to get a Con. majority.. I hope.

Just to be nice to you CDN87, last election I was rooting for the NDP to get the balance of power (meaning they could be all the Tories needed to get a motion passed).

Thats the only reasonable goal the NDP can have is hope its a minority gov. and they can be the balance of power and be a valuable party vote-wise.

Although I disagree fundamentally with the NDP and don't support their vision I commend you for taking the initiative to volunteer in the political process.

OMG, Canada has a spin-off of the ACLU.

The ACLU is the worst organization in America. They use loopholes to let criminals and creeps get free, far from what they are supposed to be about.

If the CCLU is anything like the ACLU then they are just as bad.

Anyways congrats CDN87 on joining the NDP party.

Personally I could never vote for them, I think they need a new leader, Jack had his chance give us a fresh face...

Good for you, CDN87, get involved. That's not the party I'd join (actually I'm not very fond of any of them; I support candidates, not parties), but those who aren't willing to engage in the political process condemn themselves to being ruled by their inferiors.

Which explains a lot, come to think of it...

Good for you indeed!

I'm personally at a point where I'm not quite sure where to stand politically but I definitely have strong sympathy for the NDP... I voted for them last election... If Quebec could shake loose of its old patterns once and for all it could be a very fertile ground for the NDP. Imagine how the dynamics of Canadian politics would change if a majority of the Bloc Quebecois vote would transfer itself to the NDP...

Congrats CDN87. Canada needs more direct political participation. Nice to see people standing up.

If nothng else, the NDP will provide a good check on any minority government. This has pretty much been their de facto role since their inception. If they hadn't drifted so far from the shore of Tommy Douglas, I'd be inclined to renew my membership.

Good on ya.

"If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain."

You must be under 25.

Thankfully there's enough of us no-brainers "Vicious" to keep the cons at bay for a bit yet.

About the 'brains' thing. Anyone who voted for Mulroney once, then did it again.........? Yep, real intelligent.

Nice to see all those jobs leaving. Who needs em anyway?

Might just go find my tinfoil hat and re-up again after all.

When you become responsible, and have a family, a wife, a child, you realize the Conservative party and FAMILY VALUES are more important.

When you are faced with one critical pregnancy decision you realize the importance of retaining the right to make a decision rather than give it up to a group of conservatives.

Good for your CDN87.

Not my choice in party's but it's good to see people become involved in the political process.

Most Canadians don't even know who is our "president". (attempt at humour)

When has the Conservative Party of Canada ever tried to illegalize abortion.

I disagree with it, but its a dead issue, nearly 20 years old, 1988 it was removed from criminal code.

It's one of those dead horse beating things.

Which is fine with me because I plan to use Adscam and "Liberals are thieves" for as long as they continue to use the abortion myth.

They haven't because they can't. Not that they don't want to. Family values is a code phrase for just about everything socially controlling. Abortion, reproductive science and technology, same sex anything etc.. Look fifteen miles to the south to see what goes on when conservative family values are politicized.
