January 11, 2007 -- All he had to do was close the door and dial 911.
But that's not what Brooklyn building super Raynold Voltaire did when he was awoken on a hot July night last year and told there was a kidnapped woman in his maintenance room.
Instead, he threw on some clothes and joined a savage gang led by a registered sex offender in raping and sodomizing the terrified college student.
"It's like the devil was knocking at his door," said one source familiar with the case. "And he answered it."
Yesterday, Voltaire quietly told a Brooklyn Supreme Court jury the entire sickening tale - pointing the finger at alleged ringleader Robert "Boo" Kelly, 42, in return for an 8-year prison deal.
"He said he was using my maintenance room," said Voltaire, 34. "He had a 'freak' there . . . I said, 'Hold on.' I put my pants on and I came out."
When he got there, Kelly - a registered sex offender and two-time felon - was already raping the woman, whose name is being withheld by The Post.
Kelly's lawyer ripped into Voltaire in cross-examination, suggesting he implicated his client to save his own skin.
"You're the superintendent of this building!" thundered the lawyer, Kleon Andreadis. "You've got responsibilities, don't you?"

you should have stuck this in the thread regarding the nature of men's sexual orientation sanctus. these sorts of crimes have always struck me as being less about the woman and more about the gaggle of men standing around watching eachother.

That's a twisted view of the average guy. When one sees nothing but this kind of opprobrious and despicable behavior in the news all the time, one has a tendency to forget that there are other types of behavior.

More and more newspapers are making a point of running 'hero' pieces whenever they can, to show that the bad news isn't all there is. I don't think anyone thinks these guys are the 'norm'. To be able to jump in on victimizing someone, there is obviously a problem with them.

I truly do not think it is altogether healthy to read newspapers or watch broadcast news, especially American channels. There is such a strange preoccupation with violence and mayhem. It is deeply troubling and makes one think the world is a nasty place.I limit my news watching to the nightly National, period.

That is messed up -_- that guy should of done something and not join in. These kind of articles makes me want to hurt the people who rape others. No one should ever have to go through being raped the pain you go through even years later and how disgusted you are with yourself is horrible.

Grr... -_-

That is quite true. Funny how often the victim will somehow feel responsible!

My husband and I had one of our first big fights over this issue because he used to be foolish enough to think that some women "asked for it" based on their dress.

Mind you, that was years ago and he's wised up since, but I'll never forget how astonished I was at this sort of attitude!

Obviously the super was as sick and twisted as the rapist. An ordinary guy would have called 911, then maybe tried to stop the assault.

Nasty bit of news:angry3:

That's it?

Where's the rest of the article? Where's the link?

It must be obvious to all and sundry much is missing here.
