I have to confess that the Blues were kinda lucky to get to the finals. In truth, I'll probably have to wait another generation before they are back in the Cup finale. Don't think I'll be around to see it but one can hope! :)

....

you might be surprised, because they did so well this season, is good motivation to push on, they now realize
that they 'can' do well.
any team that makes it into the playoffs, and is motivated to win the first round, and does that, can then
rise to the next occasion, which is just what the rangers did.
and l.a. was down 3 games to none against san jose, and fought their way back, they could have easily been
beaten in any of the next four games, and then gone from the playoffs, such a fine line between being
there and 'not'.
the rangers will improve their team next season, and have a good season.

there are lots of very good teams that do not get to the finals, after all, only two teams reach that far,
so someone has to lose along the way, doesn't mean they aren't just as good as the team who beat them
out, its just four games to win, and many times those series go to 7, so that is only 'one' game more
for the winner.

i don't judge any team by how far they get in the playoffs, there is much more to the teams than that,
that is just the icing on the big cake, not the cake.

enjoy the cfl, what team do you pull for.

i know that 'willie desjardin' is in vancouver as we speak, and he is having interviews with the
canucks management.

he just won the 'calder cup' championship, which is the stanley cup of the ahl. he has a very
good history of coaching, and from all that i have read about him he is a great candidate for
the next coach with the canucks.

hope this interview process is successful, maybe we will hear something on monday.

pittsburg also has interviewed him, the very next day after his calder cup victory, but from
what i heard they only offered him a 2 yr contract, and the reason for that would be, that
pittsburg's new g.m. also 'only' has a 2 yr contract, so he can't very well offer the new
coach something more, so maybe that was lucky for vancouver.
pittsburg is obviously very impatient right now, and want results over the next 2 years, or
'all' will be turfed, but vancouver will be offering a long term contract to build the team
back up to a winning level, which isn't a 2 yr. scramble, but after saying that, i don't think
canucks are nearly as bad as some think, i think they only had a very bad year, and the cause
of that, 'was' turfed, both of them.

just some re tweaking, some young additions, and good coaching, and they will be back on track.

just watched the press conference for the introduction of 'willie desjardin' as canuck's new head coach.

i like the choice, now it is brand new start, with all three guys, running the team.

looks pretty healthy to me.

now if the media can give them some slack for a while, while they put their talents to work, and stay
out of their way, BUT, as usual whatever successes the canucks have in the next few years, will be
'in spite' of the media, not along with them.

they will get no support from the media, as 'they' sit and just wait for little things to pick away at,
and criticize, most times when it is not deserved, so it takes a very strong group running the team
to be successful in this market.

it is comical to me, cause the media liked torterella, and the main reason they liked him is because
he was so controversial, they waited each day for him to do something 'wierd' so they could have a
big storyline for their shows. they really didn't care a damn about the actual coaching, it was the
stuff around the coaching they liked. that explains in a nutshell what they really want, it isn't
about the success of the team, they are happier when the team is unsuccessful, as they have more
to yapabout, it is 'really' all about them.

Yes that's one reason I never got into radio-couldn't stomach the business-I wish the new crew well.

Was watching Global BC news tonight talloola when Squire Barnes announced that Willie would be the new coach. Here's a bit of trivia he passed on ..........Willie Desjardins grew up in Climax, Sask and about 10 klicks away from his hometown is the now, ghost town of Canuck. Kind of serendipitous, don't you think? Glad to see the wait is over for your team and hoping this will be the start of something really great for them.

yeah, that is interesting. next thing to happen, i would think, is the trading of ryan kesler, hopefully
that will be done in the next couple of days, before friday draft, if not, then it will happen sooner
rather than later. he wants to leave, so lets get it done, and bring in players who 'want' to play on
the team.

I fully agree, certainly don't need anyone hanging around who has the Eric Lindros syndrome!-:)

yep, and speaking of lindros, he was on the hall of fame list for this time around, but didn't get
enough votes to get in this time, ahhhhh, poor baby, too bad, maybe he should go home and cry to
his mamma and daddy, just like he always has.

Yeah, I bet he still can't see what a brat he was when playing for the Nordiques! -:)

well, i agree he was a brat, but he never did play for them, he wouldn't report to the team when they
drafted him.

i think the reason he was such a spoiled brat, is that his parents were also.

Hope we don't live to regret it.

why on earth would they ever regret it. kesler requested a trade, more than once.

the worst thing they could have done is refuse, then the team is left with an unhappy
player, and in the dressing room that is a downpulling mood, that player will not be
part of the 'family' of players who will stick together thru thick and thin, support
each other to the end, he will be there cause they wouldn't let him go.

why do you think they could live to regret it, maybe 'he' will live to regret it, too bad,
once he's gone, who cares, we look to all of the players who 'want' to be here.,

MLS soccer = not quite at the same level as World Cup but it's good soccer. NY scored at the last minute just like in the WC.

Good game!
