Some say Gillis is just Aquilini's stooge. If that's the case I say he needs to find a better stooge.

the latest prediction from pratt at team 1040 is that markus naslund will become the general manager,
and gillis will do like keven lowe in edmonton, and step out of the picture, as only president.

sounds good to me.

what about torterella

Predators, Canucks aim to stay in playoff raceTuesday, 03.18.2014 / 10:41 PMJohn Kreiser - NHL.com
PrintPREDATORS (29-30-10) at CANUCKS (31-30-10)

TV: FS-TN, SNET-P

Last 10: Nashville 4-6-0; Vancouver 3-6-1

Season series: It's the third and final game of the season between the Nashville Predators and Vancouver Canucks. The road team has won each of the first two. Nashville's 2-1 victory at Rogers Arena ended a four-game losing streak to the Canucks.

Big story: Each team is watching its hopes of making the Stanley Cup Playoffs fade away. Vancouver is back home after a 4-3 road loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning and begins the night five points out of the second wild-card position in the Western Conference. The Predators are eight points out of a playoff berth after being routed by the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.

Team Scope:

Predators: The best thing about the 5-1 loss to the Oilers is that coach Barry Trotz and his players won't have much time to dwell on it.

"We had a lot of no-shows, guys that didn't play to their capabilities and that's not good enough for us," coach Barry Trotz said.

Nashville trailed 1-0 after one period and 3-1 after two; Jordan Eberle added two goals in the third period to send starting goaltender Pekka Rinne to the bench after allowing five goals on 26 shots.

"It was obviously not the best game for myself," Rinne said. "I'm disappointed for sure. It's the way it goes I guess once in a while, but it's not acceptable. It's a little bit embarrassing too."

Canucks: The loss to the Lightning was another nail in the coffin of Vancouver's hopes for a sixth straight trip to the playoffs. Part of the problem has been that rookie goaltender Eddie Lack, who was terrific as a backup for Roberto Luongo, has struggled since becoming the starting following the trade that sent Luongo to the Florida Panthers.

Lack's goals-against average in seven games since the trade is 3.68. His save percentage is .862.

Despite Lack's struggles, coach John Tortorella says he still has confidence in Lack. Tortorella has yet to start Jacob Markstrom, who came from Florida in the Luongo trade.

"This is part of his development as far as being a No. 1 – to understand some of the workload it's going to take," Tortorella told the media when asked about Lack. "It's going to take some time, but we feel he has the ability and we're going to go through the process with him."

Who's hot: Defenseman Shea Weber has a goal and four points in Nashville's past four games … Canucks forward Alexandre Burrows, who went without a goal in his first 35 games this season, has five in his past five games. That includes two in the third period at Tampa Bay.

Injury report: The Canucks are missing defensemen Christopher Tanev (hand) and Andrew Alberts (concussion), centers Ryan Kesler (knee) and Mike Santorelli (season-ending shoulder surgery), and first-line left wing Daniel Sedin (knee).

nashville should be growly tonight, as edmonton showed them how to really play hockey last night,
5-1, i watched most of that game, those edmonton young guns were having lots of fun.

Big News-Aquilini the Canuck owners just bought a bunch of high end restaurants

Now there's finally an opening for the soon-to-be-unemployed duo of Gillis & Tortorella-Gillis as busboy and Torts as dish pit slave.

as long as they keep gillis away from the food, as he would be sweating all over everything, and his
face will be so red he will resemble the lobsters.

and torterella will lose it and get fired on the first night, he will try to get to the bosses office
to rant, but will be thrown out by the bouncers.

chris tanev is finished for the season, two broken fingers from blocking a shot.

I guess they are pretty well all done for the season, Dollar per pound Tanev is probably the best player they have.

well, one of the top defencemen, for sure.

well, one of the top defencemen, for sure.

roberta luongo made 52 saves last night as florida defeated san jose 3-2, reg. time.
he made 28 saves in the last period.

this prevented san jose from going into first place in the pacific division, as anaheim
also lost, so that leaves them tied for fist place, but anaheim has a game in hand.

Guess the boys aren't dead yet, they generally perform well when their backs are to the wall! (I missed tonight's game, bowling takes precedence)

Lack had a good game as did Hamhuis of all people.

Hamhuis is generally pretty dependable!

Well, no one has clinched a playoff berth yet and only Buffalo has been eliminated!

the game was ok, good that they won, nashville isn't a very good team right now, game was pretty

even till canucks went ahead, then nashville was scrambling and canucks relaxed more and held on

to the lead.

dallas has dropped below phoenix now, they are in a dog fight for that 8th spot, will be interesting
to follow, and winnipeg is pushing against canucks, they won tonight too.

Yeah, I think the Canucks will probably eke out a playoff spot by the skin of their teeth. They can't afford to lose any more though.

I purposely didn't watch the Nashville game because I was sick of watching the Canucks find a way to lose. I finally tuned in with about eight minutes left in the third and surprise, surprise, they were leading two to nothing. Who knows. Maybe they'll get in the play-offs and beat somebody. I don't expect this team to go that far in the play-offs........if the get in the post season play. Unless something changes this team is just not consistent enough to get past the first round.

i've thought all season that they are a middle of the roAd team, and i accepted them that way, now
they Are beginning to make some changes, which is good, the team will gradually change over the
next while, forget the playoffs, doesn't matter, they can work for that level next year, and even
if something happens this year, and they do get in, they will only get the first round in, so i would rather see
them get a higher draft pick, which will help them more moving forward.
all teams must transition at one time or another, calgary had to do it, and they are now full of young players,
making their way 'up' again, and it is fun watching the new young players improve and learn how to win.

i will always watch the games, i don't 'just' think about winning, i like to watch the process, and the
changes in the team will keep the interest of fans now, as nicholas jensson, shawn matthias, and at
training camp in the fall, the other draft picks, horvat and shinkaras (sp?) will be there as well.

and of course i wonder about coaching/management, and what will be done there, if anything, and also
markus naslund possibly coming in to be g.m. with gillis moving to president only, sounds exciting.
he has been the g m in sweden for a couple of years now, but has recently resigned to do something else,
but he hasn't said 'what'.

have you figured out how many games phoenix and dallas have to lose to let the canucks have 8th spot?
and have you checked canucks schedule to the end to see 'who' they play?

That's a bad sign!

phoenix lost to boston just now, they were tied at 2 till almost the end of the game,
then iginla scored, then an empty net, iginla now has 29 goals for the season, that
teams suits him so well, total team play, he fits right into that concept.
boston now has 12 wins in a row.

Never thought I'd be glad to see Boston win, but I guess it's all a moot point now. My biggest hope now is to see them heading to the golf course about game 5 of the playoffs. -:)

why would you have wanted phoenix to win, that would put them another 2 points up on canucks, or, are
you still on that old boston hate trip.
