I guess canuck offense has to charge and swarm the net
like chicago did, should have been a penalty, or 'no goal'
on their 5th goal, as a crowd were all in the crease pushing
luongo back, hence puck rolled over the line, but actually
that didn't change anything, as the game was lost by then
anyway.

That bugged the hell out of me. How can two of the oppposing forwards just physically shove our goaltender right into the net without there being a call by the ref. At the very least it was goaltender interference.

Fact: Luongo should have never been made captain.

Fact: Luongo just isn't that good.

Fact: The Canucks are over rated and always have been.

Fact: Burrows is a dick.

Just noticed where you post from so I will dismiss all of
it, and remain feeling sorry for the death of the leafs.

I'm a Habs fan, you know that.

When I was growing up they won several Stanely Cups and were never overrated.

They didn't choke either and had great goal tending.

Who would you prefer in net right now for Vancouver....Luongo or Halak?

I've never thought it was a good idea to make the goaltender captain.

Luongo has his moments. He didn't have many good moments last night.

The Canucks finished in third place behind Chicago and San Jose. They must have beat a lot of teams to get there.

I don't know Burrows well enough to call him that. I do know that Burrows works very hard.

Luongo isn't consistent, never puts a string of strong performances together as for the Canucks finishing third....that's the regular season....means nothing in the playoffs.

Just ask the Caps.;-)

I have always loved the habs too, but can't wish for things
that aren't realistic.

Who knows what halak would be like in vancouver, or luongo
in montreal.

Luongo was great in games one and two, but as soon as he
isn't perfect out comes the critics. He is our goalie, we
don't have anyone else at the moment. Next year Schneider
will be back-up, (I'm assuming, but seems to be the plan),
and he can push luongo, as he is playing for a starting
position in the NHL, and if Luongo stumbles too many times,
he will be there to step in, maybe that is what luongo
needs, just like Halak has Price waiting in the wings to
take over any time he fails.

It's just too bad canucks didn't win the second game for
luongo, he deserved the win.

Burrows was not 'wise' last night, lost his cool, don't know
why he would pick on Campbell, he can't fight his way out
of a wet paper bag, at least pick on someone who is going
to accomodate you.

Canucks didn't stick to their own game last night, and
they need to do that, even the twins came undone, and
that definitely took away from their game, chicago got
to us last night, we peppered their goalie all through
the first period and came up empty, and chicago had two
goals totally against the play, tough way to start a game,
but thems the breaks, and they must continue on, playing
'their' game, and not allow chicago to pull them away from
that.

Don't understand this 'overrated' thing, doesn't make any
sense, they earned their 3rd place in conference, and
made their own rating, nothing made up by anyone.

Many fewer teams in the league when montreal won all of
their cups, much different league then, it's big business
now all over the continent, more television, computer age now,
everything at the fingertips, opinions everywhere all the time,
and guys coming on this thread making accusations of canucks being
over rated, what can I say. Over rated by who?, their own fans, could be,
but I guess one could say that about all teams 'home' fans.

Do you think Washington was overrated too, or the Devils
or Buffalo? They are all gone, top 3 teams in the east.

Of all the teams we could have faced in the first round I was happy with the Caps before the series started and the devils and Buffalo aren't much better. Marty is coming to the end of his career as seen in his terrible second half and without Miller standing on his head the Sabre's are no threat either.

Out of the West however all I hear about is how the Canucks are the greatest thing since sliced bread....never ever bought into it though.

Still don't.

Here on the coast, we don't have that attitude, and as you
must know, vancouver fans are the hardest on the team than
anyone, (maybe not as vile as montreal fans),lose one game and they are trash, win a couple and the cup is theirs.

Typical fans.

The media aren't much different as they run their shows
on controversary and negativity, so they look for that
every day, and if the team is on a winning run, they still
find something to whine about.

So, where you are hearing this 'since white bread thing',
I'm not sure, but it's not from this area.

Who do you think might follow in marty's footsteps, haven't
kept up to date on their goalies, and I wonder also who
will be their head coach.
I would imagine Kovalchuk will head into free agency now,
can't picture him becoming a devil, the fit doesn't seem
very good.

Simple again for me tonight.

The game was going great, both teams playing top notch
hockey, tied 2-2, THEN stupid penalties, 2- 5 on 3s against
canucks, the loss is not luongo's fault, but he was not at
his best, but he didn't save the game, can't blame him for
5 on 3 power plays.

The dicipline of the canucks was quite unacceptable, and
that includes daniel who took two penalties in a row, and
I really don't have any sympathy for them, if they can't
keep their cool and play good hockey for 60 minutes then
they don't deserve to win.

When they play 'their' game and concentrate on the game
and use their speed, which was impressive in the first
period, then they can compete with anyone. Chicago looked
very good, took over the game with their power play goals,
and didn't look back, jonathan toews had 5 points, and
was the best player on the ice, along with their goalie.

mathematically it's not over, but down 3 games to 1 and going
back to chicago is definitely against canucks, and in my opinion
it's not far from over, and canucks will have to go home and think
about their lack of composure in this series, BUT if they go to chicago
and win, then they come back to vancouver and win, then they will force
game 7, it is possible, but a big uphill climb.

Canadiens win. Detroit wins. Philly wins. Thought for sure it would be a night for the Canucks too. What a bitter disappointment, tallola, especially when the Canucks did it to themselves. I can see why Canucks fans get so frustrated with their team.

Yeah, they have an outside chance of coming back but they better pull up their hockey socks and play with heart and discipline.

Decided to see how our kids are doing overseas against Italy in the World Hockey Championship. Some of these guys are only 18 years old.

Go, Canada.

Yes, we have world hockey on right now in the 3 rd period,
canada ahead of italy.

All those fans still entertaining a Canucks win in these playoffs might better spend their time studying green fees and tee-off times at their favourite golf courses because the Canucks are going nowhere in hockey this year. There are still several teams that could make the cup final but Vancouver is not one of them. Something went drastically wrong in about game two of this series and the Canucks have not been able to fix it.. It's not just Luongo. It is the whole team. Of course I could be wrong and the Canucks could come back and win all the remaining games but I wouldn't put my house on it.. I wouldn't put the dog's house on it.

For me juan it's all about dicipline, last night the first
period was fantastic for both teams, and canucks looked
very sharp and ready for anything UNTIL they lost their
composure, happened game before too, they seem to have a
few guys who can't stick to 'game' plan, let their emotions
get in the way, and surprisingly the sedins joined that
group, totally takes them away from their game, and also
I think they got frustrated because chicago was checking
them so good that they couldn't complete their plays they
had planned with each other, well, they have to adapt for
heavens sake, start making off the rush instead of those
little passes to each other, they were not working, chicago
had their number, and they didn't like that.

In the off season the defense is what Gillis has to address,
as we have good offense and more coming, and the goaltending
is fine, as we have cory schneider coming up and that will
address that situation.

Our defense is full of holes. Chicago has a fine defense
and will go a long way with them, and their goalie too, as long
as he continues playing the way he is right now.

No Juan I wouldn't bet on it either, in fact I don't want
canucks to win this series, unless they get their dicipline
back in order, that part of their game surprised me, as I
thought they would be very 'cool' under such pressure, but
it's not turning out that way.

Hot heads, O'Brian, Bieksa (after the whistle), would like
to see him do more before the whistle blows.
Burrows could have had a major and a suspension for cross
checking Bifeuglan in the head after the whistle, he's
lucky he only got two, that was a cheap shot for sure.

Edler is playing quite well, and Salo. We have some nice
prospects on defense coming up, so over the next couple of
seasons they should be on the team.

I do feel for all Canucks fans. It is one thing to be beaten by a better team. It is totally another when your team is the author of their own demise. From what my well-informed neighbor tells me, and from what tallola has written, I highly doubt the Canucks will come back to win the series. I really don't think they deserve too.

Ah well, maybe next year.

Too many people failed to realize that the Nucks play in a weaker division and really just aren't that good (Hell, Phoenix/Winnipeg finished with more point with a bunch of muckers). There only was three teams in the west with a realistic shot at the cup. Like all the other also rans, Vancouver needs (needed) a Pat Roy type of run in net to have a shot. LOOOOOOOOOO has a way to go before he can be mentioned in that category (if ever)

Over rated big time, a complete joke.
The people who spend $500 to $1000 to take their family to a hockey game and watch such dismal performance, should get a refund.

Luongo should be thanking Sidney Crosby for his Gold medal,
