Heard a rumour today, that pyatt might be traded, might be nothing to it, as
the media really don't know much, but think they do.
I don't mind him now, he is much improved since the beginning of the season.
But, he would be good trade bait, and if gillis can improve the team by doing
that, that's fine.

I'm worried about the defence, salo out for a month or more, broken rib.
And, when he comes back, what then, and for how long.

Gillis has made lots of new friends as of yesterday, all of the flack he took
at the beginning has died down, lots of respect now, he is so patient, and
quiet, doesn't need his ego stroked at all, (like burke), and I feel lucky that

Here is something you didn't know. At the start of negotiations with the Canucks, Mats and the Canucks agreed on an exercise regimen that he stuck to for the three months. I think he'll be in shape and he will practice with the Canucks until he thinks he is ready.

BS. Sundin has scored an average of over thirty goals a year for the last fifteen years or so, including the three years when Toronto didn't make the play-offs. Frankly Risus, it is not Sundin's idiocy that is proven by what you say.

As a Leaf fan, I can honestly say that I lost a bit of respect for Sundin after this whole situation. He didn't want to be traded last year(to a contending team of his choice) as he didn't want to be a "rental player". However, that is exactly what he has become now. The only difference is the Leafs don't get the two draft picks now, which could have helped them immensely. I concede that is partly the Leafs fault for giving him the no-trade clause(man, they seemed to like giving those out to everyone on that team. Thank goodness JFJ is gone. That guy was an idiot!).

With regards to his impact for Vancouver? Only time will tell. He will have a LOT of eyes on him, and I hope that it doesn't become a distraction to the team(sort of like what happened with Dallas and Steve Avery). I don't think he will score even close to 30 goals this season, but he should help them offensively.

The talk on Vancouver radio, only speculation, has been a little different Shadow. The word out there is Sundin didn't want to replace people and shake up a locker room going into the playoffs. The Vancouver situation works best for him that way. They don't have to ship out players for him to play. The story also goes that he went as far as contacting some Canucks players to get their feeling on him being around; concerned that he might disrupt the chemistry.

Who knows if it will work. The one bonus will be some of the defensive heat being taken away from the Sedins.

Why didn't he sign with Vancouver when they first offered the 2-year 20 million dollar contract if he really wanted to be a Vancouver Canuck all along?:-?

When a player has a no trade contract, that is exactly what it is, a veteran
player has earned the right to dictate where he wants to play, toronto didn't
have to give him the no trade clause, but they did, as they did with far too
many of their players, put them in a bad spot.

I listened to sundin's entire conference call today with team 1040, he said that
he did not know if he was going to play 'at all' until about two weeks ago, then
he informed his agent that he would play. He was impressed with vancouver's
original offer (not just financial, but complete offer) on July 1st, and he said that
he was impressed with 'how' vancouver handled themselves all along, no pressure
at all on him, but they kept him informed as to how the team was going, what
players were added, etc etc. Gillis and two others canuck management people\
met with sundin in l.a. two weeks ago, they had a good meeting, but he still
hadn't made up his mind. He also said he is happy to be playing in canada
in front of 'sold out' crowds, and also, and most important, he did not want to
disrupt anyone in the dressingroom, did not want players to be let go, because
he was coming, and he talked in length with matias ohlund two days ago,
to make sure all was well in the 'room' with him coming, and after that call,
he was happy to make his decision to come to vancouver.
Nothing fishy about it at all, he said all the media stories were false, it was
really very simple, no delayed dates at all, as media stated, and his first choice
was not the rangers, but vancouver, although he was shown all of the offers
by his agent, before he finally made his decision.
After his contract was pro-rated for this year, he would receive 5.75 million, and
he wanted 5 million, and said, 'when asked', why he turned down the extra 750 thousand, and he said that he was flattered by the amount offered him, and he wanted
to leave vancouver enough to be able to make another deal if they needed to, so now
they will have about 2.75 mill left under cap.
If he was only interested in the money he would have jumped at the 20 mil offer, but
he isn't, and had to test himself over the period of time, to make sure he had the
desire and passion to return, and also, by letting this time pass, he leaves vancouver
with more money, and doesn't drain them dry.
