that is fantastic, didn't see the game, and i hardly miss any of edmonton's games.
i'm always hoping they will win a game, they have hAd a very poor few years.

i love any western team beating any eastern team, i'm very west oriented, can't go past that line,
they are not 'us'. we are the west, not the east, dropped detroit like a hot potatoe, and they use to be one of my favourite teams, not now,
same with columbus.

i welcomed winnipeg with open arms, of course they weren't really an eastern team, just had to stay in
that conference for awhile.

i'm so glad toronto was moved to the east long ago, cause i couldn't stand the thought of having to cheer
for them in the cupfinals. lol

who would you cheer for if pittsburg and vancouver were in the cup finals.

The Oilers played very well, talloola. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins got two goals including the OT winner, Taylor Hall and Anton Belov got the other two. They were down 2 - zip after a period and a half but fought their way back. It was a big win for Edmonton as the Pens have lost only 3 games in their last 15 outings.

Not an East/West person at all, talloola. The Pens are the team I cheer for above all others but always give credit where it is due and with the way my guys have been playing a loss here and there doesn't bother me much - Sid got a goal and an assist in the losing effort last night. If it came down to the Canucks vs the Penguins, I would still be cheering for the Pens.

I don't want to be a sh*t disturber but I was happy to see the Islanders beat the Lanch!-:)

i like the islanders too, watch lots of their games.
they are probably my favourite team in the east, along with montreal
who was my team till canucks came along.

didn't see all of canucks game last night, but did see some. blues
seemed a bit 'off' of their game, they usually do lots of hitting,
and play a heavy game, not so last night, good for canucks to hold
on to the lead right thru to the end.
that will keep that nasty media off of their backs for a while.

for Canucks vs. KingsSunday, 01.12.2014 / 4:21 PMBrian Compton - NHL.com Deputy Managing Editor

CANUCKS (24-13-9) at KINGS (27-14-5)

TV: SNET-P, FS-W

Last 10: Vancouver 4-3-3; Los Angeles 3-6-1

Season series: This is the fourth of five games between the Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings. The Kings are 3-0-0 against Vancouver this season and most recently earned a 3-1 victory Jan. 4 at Staples Center.

Big story: Two major pieces of Vancouver's roster could be back in the lineup Monday.

Goaltender Roberto Luongo and defenseman Alexander Edler each practiced Sunday and will join the Canucks on their three-game road trip that also features stops against the Anaheim Ducks and Phoenix Coyotes.

Luongo hasn't played since Jan. 4, also against Los Angeles. He stopped 46 of 48 shots in a 3-1 loss.

The Canucks' No. 1 goaltender told the team's website Sunday that the injury he sustained in a game against the Winnipeg Jets on Dec. 22 and the one against Los Angeles were not related. He is 16-10-6 with a 2.23 goals-against average and .922 save percentage in 33 games this season.

"One has nothing to do with the other," Luongo said. "Totally different injury on a different type of play. There's nothing in common with either injury."

Edler has been out since Dec. 3, when he sustained a knee injury against the Nashville Predators. He has three goals and six assists in 27 games.

"I had a good practice today and we'll see tomorrow," Edler said. "Mentally, I'm ready."

Team Scope:

Canucks: Forward Zac Dalpe was promoted to the top line alongside Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin and scored a goal in Vancouver's 2-1 victory against the St. Louis Blues on Friday. Dalpe skated with the Sedin twins during practice Sunday and will likely find himself on the top line again in Los Angeles.

"I'm an energy guy," said Dalpe, who was acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes during training camp. "I like to skate and shoot the puck. It just so happens to be on a different line."

Kings: Los Angeles, which suffered a 3-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings at Staples Center on Saturday, did not take the ice Sunday. Instead, the Kings held workouts, team meetings and video sessions. They are 2-1-1 on their five-game homestand, which concludes Monday against Vancouver.

"We tighten it up when we're at home," coach Darryl Sutter told LA Kings Insider. "Five-game homestand, we win [Monday], that'd be a [good] homestand. That's how we try and approach those things. Just trying to review some stats with guys today and get some banged-up guys ready for [Monday]. Get some of the energy back."

Who's hot: Over the past four games, Henrik Sedin has five assists and Daniel Sedin has four. Chris Higgins has a goal and two assists in the past four. … Kings center Anze Kopitar has three assists in the past four games; Mike Richards has an assist in back-to-back games.

Injury report: Along with Luongo and Edler, the Canucks could be without forward Alexandre Burrows (jaw) and defensemen Ryan Stanton (ankle) and Andrew Alberts
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

according to the radio, edler will be playing tonight, and burrows, probably on saturday against calgary.

i don't want to see any of our players serve a suspension because of an incident against dustin brown,
BUT it would be nice to see some sort of retribution for his nastiness that he tried to sell as accidental.
give me a break, he is a very dirty player, going back to the incident in the playoffs two years ago,
where he attacked henrik.

i would like to have a magic wand, then i could fix him, and fix him good, and by the looks of his
mouth, someone long ago did just that.
watched him against detroit the other night, throw himself backward into 'quick', and officials get
completely sucked in by him. that must stop.

i think we at least need a hockey stick and skates to make a difference, and even then, it
wouldn't be positive at all. lol

everyone else is beating l.a., so canucks need to be part of 'that' crowd, but it seems l.a.
get a bit more competetive when canucks arrive in their building, so that needs to be removed,
deleted, knocked out of them, or ? maybe tonight.

I might be a bit of a detriment in that department, Talloola, I never did learn the knack of skating backwards. (could go like hell frontwards) -:)

If the Canucks keep getting penalties Torts is gonna blow a gasket.

That was the Mother of all penalty kills.

Sometimes ya just have to punch someone out.

Kesler took the boots to Brown.

Looks like Torts wants them to stir it up physically.

i was glad to see canucks deliver the goods tonight instead of always having to react to what l.a.
does
to them, we are all sick of that, enough is enough.

both of these teams have trouble scoring goals, so when one gets a 1-0 nothing lead, that is a big
lead, turned out tonight to be enough for l.a..

one more meeting with them this season.

I still don't understand the chain of events that left the Canucks short handed for damn near a period. The ref blew it big time. There was no fight. At best it was a two minute minor for roughing. The ref kept compounding the situation by giving Vancouver more penalties. I hope the Canucks put in a formal complaint.

CANUCKS (24-14-9) at DUCKS (35-8-5)

TV: SNET-P, FS-W

Last 10: Vancouver 4-3-3; Anaheim 9-1-0

Season series: The Vancouver Canucks and Anaheim Ducks play the third of five games. Anaheim won the first two, the last a 4-3 overtime victory on Jan. 5.

Big story: The League-leading Ducks will try to continue their historic run at Honda Center, where they are 19-0-2 this season. A win against the Canucks will move the Ducks into a tie with the 2008-09 San Jose Sharks for third place on the League's all-time list with a 22-game point streak at home from the start of a season. The 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers own the record of 26 straight.

"It can't get any better when you're winning like that," Ducks center Mathieu Perreault said. "Everyone has a smile on their face. It's fun to come to the rink every day. We've been enjoying ourselves quite a bit lately."

The Ducks are also expected to have leading scorer Ryan Getzlaf (foot) back in the lineup after he missed a 1-0 victory against the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday. Getzlaf told reporters Tuesday he felt good stopping and starting in practice.

Team Scope:

Canucks: Although the Canucks have dropped six of seven their past seven games, they left Staples Center after a 1-0 loss to the Los Angeles Kings feeling good about their game and their response to the Kings' physical style of play.

"I thought we did a really good job as far as deciding that ice is ours also," coach John Tortorella said. "It's something that has been minus from our game a little bit here. We got squat for points. But I think we crossed a couple of bridges in what needs to be done."

Ducks: Anaheim extended its winning streak to seven while earning its 17th victory in 18 games with a 1-0 win Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings. Goalie Jonas Hiller had his third shutout of the season and 19th of his career.

"Our goalies have been amazing for us lately, especially Jonas," center Saku Koivu said. "He made some key saves. The way he's been playing, he's give us some confidence. We know even if we're not at our sharpest, we're going to have a chance to win."

The Ducks are the seventh team in NHL history to win 17 times in an 18-game stretch. Their only loss came on Dec. 29, when they were beaten 3-1 by the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center.

Who's hot: Canucks goaltender Eddie Lack has allowed one goal in each of his past two games. … Hiller was named the League's second star for the week ending Jan. 12 after going 3-0-0 with a 1.67 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage. He has won 14 straight games, which ties the second-longest in League history with Tom Barrasso, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Center Andrew Cogliano has points in five of his past seven games (4-1-5) and six goals in his past 10. Kyle Palmieri has points in five of his past seven (2-4-6).

Injury report: Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo (ankle) remains day to day. Forwards Alexandre Burrows (broken jaw) and Jordan Schroeder (ankle), and defenseman Andrew Alberts (concussion) and Ryan Stanton (ankle) are on injured reserve … Ducks defenseman Luca Sbisa (torn tendon, right hand) skated Tuesday for the first time since going on IR in November and could return next week. Defenseman Bryan Allen (lower body) also practiced and coach Bruce Boudreau believes he could be ready by the weekend. However, defenseman Sheldon Souray (wrist surgery), said Boudreau, is "a ways away." Goalie Viktor Fasth

anaheim are feeling very good about themselves right now, no regulation losses at home this season,
and they are sitting on 'top' of the NHL, so canucks have their work cut out for them tonight.

if they bring the emotion and effort to this game which they did against l.a., they have a chance, but
anaheim can score better than either canucks or kings, so even though the effort is there for canucks,
they still have to actually put the puck in the opposition net, which is not an easy task this season.

lack has played well, but i will be glad when he can get a break, with luongo coming back, as this
is a lot to put on his plate, he was out almost all of last season, had surgery, and he shouldn't
be bombarded with a real heavy load just yet, a few games here, a few games there would be better for
him, he will be a great number one goalie, but i don't think 'quite' this fast.

well, first of all i'm very glad torterella pulled lack after 3, nothing was his fault, but he does have
to play tomorrow night, so good move coach.

i do have a tiny thought about that very quick 'missed' goal, (goalpost) from kesler inside of a minute
from the start of the game, wonder if that had have gone in, would game have been different, we'll never
know.

canuck defense tonight wasn't sharp at all, definitely had their problems.

and of course, still no scoring, and although some of anaheim's goals were lucky bounces, without those,
they probably still would have won by about 5 or 6 goals, so doesn't really matter.

and of course as well, all of the nonsense toward the end of the game, was expected as the frustration
and dissapointment from the players began to burst out, but that double 7 minutes 'each' given to
canucks by official, was insane, with nothing going to the other side.

david booth played better, but what the hey, just a replay of other first games back for him, and then
the slide down into the toilet to mediocre play again, so this time he better continue the good play, he must
be hanging by a thread by now, and absolutely no team would ever take him in a trade, his contract is
about 3 times more than he is worth.

canucks will play better tomorrow, but they are not a consistently quality team, good games, so so games,
very low scoring games, not able to score more than one or two goals, which is very hard on any of their
goalies, puts a lot of pressure on them 'not' to let 'anything' in at all, the team just isn't balanced,
but phoenix is also not playing well, so maybe tomorrows game cAn bring a win.

there is no point in trashing players, they are who they are, possibly gillis can swing one trade before the
deadline, but i know that all the g ms are looking to do the same, they all want similar type players, so
getting the player canucks really need will be very difficult.
