I sure hope colorado goalie had sun screen on the back of his neck, cause that light went on 6 times.

canucks had a great 3rd period, first two were not so pleasing.

sedins put on a show, daniel had a hat trick and hansen had two goals, hodgson and edler had one

some very pretty goals.

they just said on team 1040 that 'neither' goalie will be given credit for the
shut out. Luongo was hit hard by a puck, schneider finished the game, 2 periods,
they both played well, especially schneider.

the team will have the stat for getting the shutout but not a goalie because they
shared the nets. ?????????

I wondered about that-it's weird.

But Yes they beat the Avs like a drum and it couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch of dirty bums.

yeah, that is two shut-outs in a row against Avs. Sure hope booth isn't seriously injured, if his knee
is blown out we won't see him for many weeks.

That line was just beginning to roll, they looked really good lately with more to come, and higgins
has staph infection, so he will be out for a bit.

well from what I am hearing, booth has a 'sprained MCL which will keep him out 4 to 6 weeks, and one
never knows, could be longer.

i'm going to do more digging for this info to make sure it is accurate.

yeah, looks like it is accurate, came from dan murphy.

9 Nov 2010 VAN@MTL MTL, 2 - 0

The Vancouver Canucks are starting to play more like the team that reached the Stanley Cup finals and less like the one that spent this season's first six weeks treading water.

It's no coincidence the league's reigning Art Ross Trophy winner is leading the way.

Coming off his first hat trick in more than a year, Daniel Sedin looks to help the Canucks to an eighth win in nine tries Thursday night when they open a five-game road trip against the Montreal Canadiens.

With 17 assists during Vancouver's 9-9-1 start, Sedin wasn't playing poorly, but he also wasn't finding the back of the net. After finishing tied for fourth in the NHL with 41 goals last season - and finishing with a league-best 104 points - Sedin scored just six times during those first six weeks.

The winger has doubled that total in his last four games, helping the Canucks (16-10-1) extend a run that has them again looking like one of the Western Conference's top teams. Sedin had his first hat trick since April 2010 in Tuesday's 6-0 rout of Colorado, Vancouver's seventh win in eight games.

"That's the way a season goes," Sedin said. "It's up and down, and you're going to have some games when you're not scoring, and some games when the pucks are going in."

The Canucks are 7-2-1 when Sedin scores, something he's done only twice in 16 career meetings with Montreal.

Sedin hasn't scored in his last five versus the Canadiens (11-11-6), and as a result, his team hasn't had much success. Save for a 7-1 rout Oct. 7, 2009, in which Daniel had three assists and brother Henrik scored twice, Vancouver has totaled four goals in losing those other four games.

The Canucks have been home for their last four games and seven of 10, but they should feel confident hitting the road. Vancouver has won five of six away from Rogers Centre - including its last three - while going an impressive 9 for 26 (34.6 percent) on the power play.

Montreal, meanwhile, hasn't allowed a power-play goal at home since Oct. 24 - stopping 29 shorthanded situations - though not letting Columbus score one didn't help in Tuesday's 3-2 shootout loss.

Brian Gionta salvaged a point for the Canadiens by scoring with 1:21 left in regulation, but that didn't help ease the frustration of a team that was seeking consecutive wins for the first time since Nov. 10-12.

"We haven't had consistency for a long time here," Gionta said. "It doesn't matter whether it's on the road or at home, we've got to find ways to bring the same effort. We know what wins us games, we just aren't doing it on a consistent basis."

Though Montreal has been able to slow opponents' power plays, it has scored only once in its last 32 chances with the man advantage.

A visit from the Canucks isn't likely to help end those struggles. Vancouver has surrendered three power-play goals in 40 chances over its last 10 road games.

It's unclear who will be between the pipes for the Canucks as this trip begins, however. Roberto Luongo, making just his second start since taking a shot to the mask Nov. 13, took one Tuesday under his mask that forced him to exit in the second period.

The Montreal native is questionable Thursday.

Luongo is 0-3-0 with a 2.40 goals-against average in his last three trips home. Backup Cory Schneider has never faced the Canadiens.

Got a glimpse of the Hab coaching staff during the last half of the third period-they looked to be under some pressure/clenching not just their teeth.

Sure as sh!t the fateful third goal went in just after.

The Habs aren't a bad team but they aren't good one either-OTOH the Canucks often don't take such opponents seriously enough.

The worst part of the game for me was having to watch a French language feed-and therein lies a tale....

interesting game tonight. Luongo snoozed thru the first period, then gradually woke up and played good the rest of the game.

carey price was his usual brick wall self, but did let in three finally.

mason raymond looked great tonight, he and hanson played so well together, and cody hodgson is again
looking like the star of the future, very smart, very dependable, a great shot, and he scored a nice one in
the shoot out.

they are off to ottawa saturday.

Good to see Luongo back to his usual form. Even I was starting to wonder if it wasn't time to recycle him. But then believers in the Canucks know better than to think like that.

yep, canucks are rolling along very nicely right now, but can't gain any ground on minnesota, they keep
winning, and are still on top of the league.

and its nice that they are in our division, good competition, I love it.

next up is columbus

If you check the last 10 games, Canucks are right at the top of the league.

yes.

sure hope hodgson is OK, he might have a concussion though. that hit was just a freaky one, as he
was turning to skate away from the boards when he was hit, and you can see his neck snap, whip lash like,
when they made contact,
just one of those hits that is no one's fault, but could keep him out for awhile.

injuries are the biggest interference with a teams ability to continue getting better, booth gone for about
6 weeks, and that line was looking so good, and when he does come back it will take a while for him to
get back to where he was, he had just begun to play like he can, after moving from florida, and now he
will have to start from square one again. oh well, by playoff time he should be flying again.

No one's fault???? I thought for starters it was charging, followed by forarms or elbows to the head. Foligno should have been thrown out of the game for that hit alone.

maybe you're thinking of the hit on kesler, then I would agree that it was irresponsible, but not
the first one, didn't you see hodgson turn and start to skate away from the board, just as foligno
was going to hit him, no fault there at all.
that is the grey area in bodychecking, the last split second movement of the hittee, but too late to
change anything much at all.
its just too easy to sit back and say that he should have done it differently, he didn't know hodgson
was going to turn and move toward him, and that happened in a fraction of a second, and the speed the
hitter is going makes it impossible to change anything. He didn't hit him into the boards, hodgson was
allready away from the boards, and when he fell he didn't hit the boards, it was the initial hit by
foligno that caused the damage, but luckily there is no damage that will cause any long term harm.

nope I don't agree with you on that hit.

I just heard on the news that Sid Crosby is out indefinitely with concussion like symptoms. How sad can it get- a young fella with a whole career ahead of him.

I don't know what to believe about him, the media is crazy, they said he was checked over and has no
concussion recurrence, just taking precautions, so who knows what is really going on.

I suppose they are covering their ass by saying concussion like.

He has another concussion. (I'd bet on it if I bet on such things.) He would not be out indefinably if that was not it. They just don't want to say it publicly for whatever reason (does the NHL have strict concussion protocols like the NFL? Perhaps they are trying to avoid that.)
