Apparently, I heard that there are some insurance companies that won't renew insurance if one is caught distracted driving but I don't know how they would even know if you did get a ticket. Is it issued in the same way as a speeding ticket that is sent in the mail?

Toronto mayor Jackass John Tory was on the news last night touting the new photo radar cameras that are being installed in Toronto!!!!!!!!!
For legal reasons - meaning no human cop there to actually and specifically identify the car driver....................................
since you may have loaned the vehicle to somebody else - tickets will go out in the mail...........................................................
BUT WILL NOT - AT THIS TIME - cause a car owner to lose demerit points nor suffer any insurance rate increase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But that may change in time - if the technology is good enough to identify the camera you are holding...............................
perhaps it will come to be good enough to convict you using the photo as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The photo radar thing is evolving - it was introduced originally in Ontari-owe by the Bob Rae NDPees.........................
and it was decried as a cash cow and a gravy grab and etc........................................
there was also the issue of safety involved as a lot of drivers tended to slam on their brakes as soon as they saw the distinctive van
parked at the side of the highway !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The new cameras are much smaller and less easily seen and should not have quite the same ability to stop traffic so abruptly!!!!!!!!!!!!
So stay tuned - photo radar is evolving all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As it stands now the law is a little fuzzy in that they say the photos are good enough essentially ...........................
to "convict the vehicle" - but not good enough to convict the specific driver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thus the law leaves it to the car owner to sort out who is actually behind the wheel and to deal......................................
with the speeding issue and the fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its a little grey area legally to convict the car - and let the owner sort things out with - whoever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although if you got 50 tickets in one year - for either speeding or distracted driving........................................
one has to think your insurance company might start asking questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
