Saturday: 237 Iraqis, 7 GIs, 2 Britons Killed; 316 Iraqis Wounded

At least
237 Iraqis were killed and 316 more were wounded during the latest round of attacks, which included a major
bombing south of the northern town of Tuz Khormato. Also,
seven GIs were killed and two were wounded, while
two British soldiers were killed and three more were wounded in separate incidents.
Two Task Force Marne soldiers were killed and two more were wounded when their dismounted patrol came across a roadside bomb south of Baghdad yesterday. Elsewhere, an
MNC-I soldier died on non-battle-related causes.
Three sailors were killed while conducting combat operation near Baghdad. An explosion in Salah ad Din province killed a
Task Force Lightning soldier and wounded four more. These latest deaths raise the total number of American soldiers killed in Iraq to over 3600.
Meanwhile, another
British soldier was killed during an IED attack north of Basra.
Three Britons were wounded in three separate incidents as well. A
British soldier stationed in Basra was killed in an unspecified incident yesterday.
A truck bomb south of
Tuz Khormato in the village of
Amerli killed 156 people and wounded 255 more.
A
suicide bomber killed 22 and wounded 15 at a funeral
Khanaqeen last night.
U.S. forces mistakenly bombed a checkpoint
north of Baghdad.
Two policemen were killed and two were wounded.
In
Baghdad, a
suicide car bomber killed five soldiers and one civilian at a checkpoint in
Zayouna;
24 people were wounded.
Two Iraqi soldiers were killed during combat operations. Gunmen
killed a man last night. Friday, mortars in Abu Saifien
injured two people. Also,
19 dumped bodies were recovered from several neighborhoods.
Gunmen
killed eight Iraqi soldiers during an attack on their checkpoint near
Mashahidah.
Six Mahdi army members were killed during clashes with U.S. troops in
Diwaniya.
A pair of car bombs
injured six Iraqi policemen in
Kirkuk.
Four civilians were killed by a roadside bomb. A roadside bomb
injured two policemen east of the city. A
civilian was killed in a drive-by shooting. Also,
two policemen were injured during an armed attack.
U.S. forces
killed four militants in
Khan Bani Saad.
According to the Iraqi Society for Defending Journalists' Rights, a journalist was killed during the
Samawa clashes.
In
Dhuluiya, an
Iraqi army officer and two companions were killed during a bombing at a petrol station.
Five civilians were wounded.
A
pregnant woman was injured when police fired at a speeding car approaching their checkpoint in
Balad.
In
Khuudaira, a roadside bomb
killed a civilian driving a car
Police commandos
injured three people during random shooting in
Samarra.
Also, an
al-Qaeda militant was hanged on Tuesday for an 2003 bombing.
