SAN JOSE, Costa Rica — Costa Rican former president and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Oscar Arias was enveloped in scandal Tuesday after a sexual assault complaint was brought against him by a nuclear disarmament activist.
Arias denied the allegation, saying he has never acted against the will of any woman and has fought for gender equality during his career.
According to the publication Semanario Universidad, the woman said the incident took place Dec. 1, 2014, at the ex-president’s home in the capital, San Jose, where she had come for a meeting related to her cause.
She told the publication that Arias grabbed her from behind, touched her breasts, began to kiss her and penetrated her with his fingers, while she reminded him that he was a married man.
“I do not remember well what he replied to me, but he continued to touch me, he inserted his fingers into my vagina and touched me everywhere and kissed me,” the woman was quoted as saying. “Then he told me to wait a bit and he left the office. I didn’t know what to do. I felt trapped in that moment.”
Semanario Universidad posted a partial image of the criminal complaint filed Monday afternoon that names the suspected crime as rape.
Responding to an Associated Press request for comment, the prosecutor’s office acknowledged receiving “a complaint against a person with the last name Arias for a presumed sexual crime,” but said it was prevented by law from releasing more information.
According to Semanario Universidad, the woman — who was then 30 — said Arias proposed meeting elsewhere, and she used that as an excuse to leave, later telling him she had gone to a meeting with an adviser to a then-lawmaker. She asked them to let her go to the National Assembly building for fear the word would get back to Arias if she did not.
The lawmaker and the adviser confirmed to Semanario Universidad that the activist had told them about the alleged incident and was visibly upset.
“I have never acted in disrespect of the will of any woman, much less in the case of their freedom to relate with another person,” Arias said in a brief statement. “In my public life I have promoted gender equality since I consider it an indispensable means to achieve a more just and equitable society for all people.”
The statement added that since there was a complaint against him, he would have no further public comment and would mount his defence in court.
Arias was president of Costa Rica from 1986 to 1990 and again in 2006-2010. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1987 for his efforts to end civil wars in nearby Central American nations.
Arias also faces a separate complaint involving purported favourable treatment for a mining project in 2008.

no. I take every story with a grain of salt.
Threads have to start somewhere...and threads ARE for discussion...unless you have apartheid posters who are KNOWN to HATE FREE SPEECH that doesn't agree with their agenda.
;)
Considering dASS's lack of accuracy on some other topics, and his propensity for using memes to fight people who use memes,(not to mention his use of ANCIENT memes on subjects where he has been shown to be completely ignorant), you'd think He would learn about being conceited about stuff like that.

The internet is forever though.

Oddly enough he knows all about sunshine girls though doesn't he?

(from the OP)

Óscar Arias denies the allegations. Former Costa Rican President Óscar Arias has been accused of sexually assaulting a lady in 2014. Mr Arias, who's 78

This is obviously a set up.

Now why does dASS want to deflect from the subject matter in the OP? How does this story effect Israel negatively I wonder?

Oh here we go:

Costa Rican president: Palestinians don't need army

Costa Rican President Oscar Arias visiting Israel, talks to Ynet about his vision for resolving Mideastern conflict; Palestinian state should be demilitarized, core issues need to be addressed early, he says.

dASS is not smart enough to do his job properly and constantly gets busted because of it.

WE are onto you bub.

Ex-Miss Costa Rica is latest to accuse Oscar Arias of sexual abuse

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica — A former Miss Costa Rica has become the second woman to make a criminal complaint against Nobel Peace Prize laureate and ex-President Oscar Arias, in the latest of mounting allegations of sexual misconduct to emerge this week.
The woman alleges that Arias grabbed her, groped her and kissed her against her will at his home in 2015, according to partial photos of the complaint published late Thursday by Escri-Viendo, a Facebook page dedicated to entertainment news.
Prosecutors confirmed its existence Friday, telling The Associated Press they had “received a new complaint against Mr. Arias Sanchez for the presumed crime of sexual abuse. The case accrues to the complaint filed Monday since it involves a single accused person and apparent crimes of the same nature.”
At least five women have accused Arias of actions ranging from unwelcome fondling or sexual innuendo to sexual assault. In the first criminal complaint, the former president is accused of groping, kissing and penetrating a female peace activist with his fingers at his home in 2014.
Arias denied wrongdoing after the initial complaint surfaced, saying he has never violated any woman’s will and has fought for gender equality during his career. As more allegations emerged, his lawyer Erick Ramos has declined to comment further, citing the pending legal case.
According to the partial images of the second complaint, the woman was invited to Arias’ home during Easter Week 2015 after he had sent her friend requests on Facebook and offered her a copy of a book he wrote. Escri-Viendo also posted an image of the book’s title page with a handwritten inscription to her signed in Arias’ name.
AP policy is not to name alleged victims of sexual crimes or abuse unless they choose to identify themselves publicly.
According to the complaint, as the woman approached a closed door, Arias put himself in front of her.
“He grabbed me, he forced me closer to his body, that is, we ended up body to body,” the complaint reads.
“Then with one of his hands he touched my breasts over my clothing and then he kissed me on the mouth against my will,” it continues. “I withdrew. I was frozen. I did not know what to say to him. The only thing I thought to say to him was, ‘Don Oscar, I have to leave.’ I walked to the door, he did not do anything more to me or say anything else.”
In addition to the two criminal complaints, three other women have accused Arias of misconduct this week.
Women’s activists called for a protest later Friday in San Jose, the Costa Rican capital, under the slogan “Yo te creo,” or “I believe you.”
Arias was twice elected Costa Rica’s president and in 1987 was recognized with the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end civil wars elsewhere in Central America.
On Thursday his National Liberation Party announced that he was leaving the party pending an outcome of the first criminal case.
