I usually thank bus drivers when I get off the bus.

As the doors swoosh open at the bus stop I usually just quickly say "Cheers!" as I'm getting off.

No but I'm not in the habit of thanking everybody for doing their job. I just expect it.

I almost got run over by a van whilst riding my BMX down this muddy incline which had a road intersecting whilst I was zooming down it at great speed as a young lad in 1988. I'm lucky to be here today. I was about to reach the intersection and go over it and continue downhill when I saw this van going along the intersection from left to right. So I careered sharply right onto the road and collided with the right-hand side of the van. The left side of my handlebars when through the open driver's window and the driver grabbed my handlebar to stop me and the bike under the wheels. I was being pulled along until he stopped. He then walked me and my bicycle back to my house. I was in great pain. I but and scraped my legs. When I got home we entered through the back yard and knocked the back door. My dad answered and the driver explained what happened. When I got inside my mum and brother were making face masks from empty cereal boxes, and I sat on the sofa watching them whilst in great pain.

They were the days...

The drivers side mirror, going down the 22 miles of the 27 towards Toronto from Nobleton on a 10 speed in the dark at 530 in the morning to go to work in the northend, is no place to be either.
Especially when the truck drivers don't groc you are doing 25 MPH, so when they pull back to the edge, you are still just ahead of their rear wheels...and just a soft shoulder, and 80 feet down into the Humber river...

fun wow!
