Ah, I see. I thought you were talking about Harper having put himself in the sights of the Canadian media. The criminal bastards!

Cuz, as you may know, the media aren't winning too many friends of late. Seems everybody and their brother hates the media. Especially radio!8)

The media was Always supposed to be under control. The Charter gives them freedom to publish... That's it! The Charter says that the media must abide by all laws that any other person has to abide by. No special privileges! No immunity from prosecution! No inherent right to corrupt government and/or law enforcement!

Media has no right to act in a manner consistent with the gestapo of Nazi Germany. The media is out of control! They're losing friends... They're losing allies... They're losing support... They're losing relevence... They're simply losing! 8)

really?

all I see is a lot of time and effort being put into importing the Scaiffe-funded malarky from the States that the average person pays less attention to than the news itself.

So what you're saying, is that you're witnessing Canadian media 's loss of relevance to the crap imported from the United States. And you're suggesting that Canadians really pay little attention to the American crap.

So, my comment about everybody and their brother hating media would be? Accurate? No?

It's true though. If you ever take the time to search the Internet for information on radio, you'll see what I mean. Damn near everybody hates radio! Canadian media giants like CanWest, are fighting because they operate some crappy radio operations. They just don't want to accept the reality of radio's fate. Radio is dead! Anybody that fights for radio, will share the same fate. It's an unwinnable war. 8)

um

no

never mind. its of no consequence.

If you're really interested in what's REALLY going on with the media these days I suggest you get ahold of a copy of "Into the Buzzsaw: Leading Journalists Expose the Myth of a Free Press".

forget the Scaiffe comment. it wasn't meant for you anyways.

Are you saying your nto a fan of the 9mm Browning Mogz?

No, not a fan really. Only shot it a few times in my career, but the sequence of :

*blam*, *clear jam*, *blam blam*, *clear jam*, *blam*, *clear jam*

gets old fast.

So we need to increase funding to our military to combat... the media?

No! We need to increase funding to our military, because our military has been a laughing stock. They've been battle ready, but unable to travel to battle. They've been properly trained, but lacked the equipment necessary to adequately utilize their training. We need to increase funding to our military so that we'll have a military worthy and capable of representing and protecting our nation.

As my colleague and nemesis, SaintLucifer, might say: We have an army that isn't really an army. We have an army that just pretends to be an army.

And that, amik, is why we need to increase funding to our military.

Wow! You said something right! By the way, I am not your colleague or your nemesis. You are completely irrelevant to me.

Canadian Forces get teased on the ground? Quite the contrary. The Americans are stunned by the professionalism of our soldiers. Canadian marksmen have set world records with their marksmanship. This ability has awed the Americans. The only thing Americans mock the Canadian Forces about would be our lack of transport capabilities. Our military had to hitch a ride with the US military to Afghanistan. This is why Canada is purchasing new Globemasters although I am staggered at the sheer cost of those transport giants.

I know that. Last I heard we still manage to kick ass during the war games as well.

It was a deliberate overstatement. You don't seem to have a problem with people calling the Canadian military a laughing stock.

THE BROWNING 9MM IS CRAP!!!!!!!!!

I DON'T THINK SO!
The Browning P-35 Hi Power was, and is, among the very best handguns ever designed.

The fact that the Canadian Army is still using examples from WWII that have had tens upon tens of thousands of rounds of hot NATO spec ammo through them may explain the jamming problem.

I've owned one since 1979. I've fired a LOT of hot ammo through it. It is tired now, but we once fired it (without cleaning) through 490 rounds before it failed to fully go into battery on one round. A light tap on the back of the slide solved that, and it banged through another 150 rounds before we gave up.

(A friend had "liberated" some military ammo)

A truely GREAT pistol.

100% Pure truth.

I spoke with an American National garuds men at a wedding last year, he was in Afganistan for a tour and he worked alot with Canadians, thats actully how he met the Groom. He siad Most full times American Soldiers cant compete with the Canadians when it comes ot Work ethic and endurance of the climate and terrain. Druning training exersises Canadians always seemed to be the first done, or the first done with out forgetting an objective or takeing a wrong turn somewhere.

Funny anecdote for those who care:

A few years back, I went on an exercise in the Mojave Desert with the 3rd Battlaion PPCLI. We squared off against guys from some Range Battalion, 5th I think. We spent a week doing mixed-unit tactics and learning how to patrol in the desert, etc, etc. The second week we went tactical, 3 VP versus the Rangers in a military-skills competition of sorts. Our first night out we did a recce-in-force of the Ranger positions. Now for those that don't know, the Rangers are suppose to be this "elite" fighting force. About 2km from the last known Ranger biv-site we could hear talking. The platoon when to ground and we sent a few guys from the 3 VP recce platoon forward. About an hour or so later they came back and said they'd crawled right up to the edge of this clearing and were able to observe the Rangers. They were about section level (8-12 men), and we manning what looked like some sort of forward observation point. They we sitting around, smoking-and-joking, as we say in the Army. No sentries out that could be seen, and no dug-in weapons. The Platoon Commander decided we'd take some prisoners, so we layed out a quick battle plan and the platoon moved in to postion. 3 Section opened fire on the Rangers, who scrambled in to partially dug foxholes. 1 Section then opened up on their flank. The Rangers then scrambled out of their holes and began to retreat....directly in to 2 Section (which I was with). Our boys popped up and they ground to a halt, all except one guy who veered off to the left and started booking it. The only guy to go after him from 2 Section was a large, somewhat over-weight medic. This medic chased down and TACKLED this Ranger, this "elite soldier", then drug him back to the staging area. In all we captured 9 Rangers without any serious effort. Elite soldiers, my ass.

This has been a military anecdote by Mogz

Yea my Uncle telss me storys of stealing marines boots from their camp sites at night, and then in the morning when they would wake up and change gaurd, attacking them when they realized they had no boots.

He also told me one time him and his platoon where on patrol in South Carolina for war games, and they came across a group of Rangers at night they captured all of them by letting them walk into the middle of their sector , and the reason it was a shameful capture was because one soldier was snezzing and the rangers still were not alerted to their presents.....this was back in the 80`s

speaking of war stories, the rest of the article is the usual OMG :( but I gotta admit I thought this part was kind of funny...

The military said it was targeting a machine on the back of a truck, which might have looked like a missile launcher from the air, but was actually machine used to drill for water. Nobody was hurt in the attack and the truck and machine were destroyed.

you gotta wonder which explitive the driver used when he came out from under cover. what do you tell the boss? does Lebanese auto insurance cover revved-up nearsighted Israeli fighter pilots?
