Or those that due to their socio-economic status won't have the reasonable expectation of jumping through the new hoops being created by the party that attempted to send thousands of non-supporters to the wrong locations to vote the last time out.

This is clearly an extension of an ongoing campaign to limit the rights of people who don't support the governing party.

The conservatives have already been caught lying about the need for much tighter controls on who votes while at the same time doing virtually nothing to investigate the worst example of voter fraud in our history...which just happened to be carried out for their benefit using their proprietary data by their own campaign workers.

There's no way that a party with such a pathetic record of respecting the electoral system here should be ramming an elections "reform" bill through the house with little or no accountability or input from the opposition and other parties with a stake in this. This Canada as conservative Inc. BS needs to stop if actually do want to live in a free Canada.

Man, you are without a doubt the most full of sh!t individual I have ever met on any forum. Watching you cut and paste and go into your shrill tirades is almost entertaining, the sad part is that I think you actually believe half of the crap you post which is disturbing. Because anyone who slings the malarky like you do and believes it really needs to get a life or get some help.

The conservatives really don't seem to understand that Canada belongs to its citizens not the governing party, and conservative Senators really have no credibility and should have what little decency remaining to them to not make really offensive and stupid statements such as it's not in our interests to have as many elligible people vote as possible.

Of course that's really not in the interests of a conservative party that seems to want to do everything it can to return with a majority government while ignoring the interests of a majority of Canadians.

Conservative Senator Linda Frum says Elections Canada's efforts to increase voter turnout put it in a conflict of interest.

Frum has made the argument before while promoting her party's Bill C-23 (Fair Elections Act), but a tweet on the subject Wednesday promoted backlash on social media that led the senator to attempt to reframe her position.

After pollster and pundit Bruce Anderson asked if anyone had a transcript of Frum's previous comments on the Chief Electoral officer, the senator tweeted that "Elections Canada should not have a vested interest in recording a high voter turnout. That’s a conflict."

As opposed to what, the "perfect" government we have now that is so out of touch with reality that it needs to stop scientists and anyone attempting to disseminate accurate information from doing so.

You want to live in your conservative la-la land go ahead, but when you start needing to effectively burn books and take over the government by other than democratic means then it's time to start calling it what it is.

So don't complain to me about the soulless **** the current government is putting us through, I'm merely commenting on it, not driving it. And I'm certainly not so deluded as to support the continuing madness, it's time to separate ideology from idiocy and that means removing a government that is so lost in ideology that it's lost touch with reality.

You should really use CAPS so that we know you're spitting all over your monitor! Of course maybe you already are, as I see I tried to do that and the board wouldn't let me.

Yep certifiable.

That's all you can post, after 8 years of this BS and that's the best response you have to what is a very serious matter for millions of Canadians. Some vets do care about this nation, I've been lucky to know more than few, but I'm getting the distinct impression that you feel your personal ideology trumps my and everyone elses rights in this country, which is the exact opposite of what this nation is supposed to stand for.

When we have a government that is so detached from not just Canadians but reality itself and shows it constantly by its actions then it's up to us Canadians to stand up for ourselves, not be shoved in a corner by "people" who have clearly forgotten how to care about anything but their own very narrow interests.

I'm a man of few words. Especially when it comes to idiots like you.

I'm posting on topic, what do you have besides silly little games, my mistake was in not leaving you on ignore which is where you belong permanently.

You don't want to deal with subject, fine. But it's completely ignorant to step in the way of someone else who does care about this country...which is entirely in character with the party you back.

I'm a man of few words. Especially when it comes to idiots like you.

Unless it comes to ****ting on someone who you don't agree with.

You have nothing to say about what's being done in our name without our consent, but you have more than enough to say when someone has the guts to call the government on their ongoing BS.

Basically don't complain to me about about your ridiculous political choices.

I am far more concerned with the investigative powers into elections fraud being given to a single person who is appointed by the PM and a member of the party. That hardly speaks to any sense of impartiality or fairness. In fact it reeks of corruption before it even begins. It equates to having the RCMP investigate wrongdoing by the RCMP. It doesn't pass the laugh-test.

Wow, that's about all I can say, wow. You obviously have no idea what so ever who you are talking to or what he stands for. That IS your problem. You jump to conclusions about someone and usually those conclusions are so off base it's laughable.

When you can't even take a few moments to check where a fellow poster stands on a certain subject, why should ANYONE take you seriously on anything else. Do you take so little time to check everything else out and instead just go off on a rant?

That's not true Nick. Gerry and I are on very different wavelengths when it comes to political matters. I've seen him take positions that were often well thought out.

Cobalt has been called out on this by all sorts of folks, not just us Right Wing Country Wreckin Wacko's.

Sure, but all too often he is rabid about imposing his religious beliefs as law upon the rest of us and that just makes him a narcissistic moron with delusions of grandeur and counterbalances his claims to leftist politics.
