Nigel Wright redacted Stephen Harper email about Mike Duffy expense controversy, court hears

Stephen Harper's former chief of staff Nigel Wright redacted an email from the prime minister that demanded the issue with Senator Mike Duffy's housing and living expenses be resolved quickly, court heard Friday.

Donald Bayne raised the existence of the email Friday during his cross-examination of Wright at Duffy's Ottawa trial.

Duffy has pleaded not guilty to 31 charges of fraud, breach of trust and bribery related to expenses he claimed in 2013 as a senator and later repaid with money from Wright.

Bayne said the email came directly from the prime minister, through Ray Novak, who was then Harper's principal secretary and is now his current chief of staff. (On Thursday, The Canadian Press reported that Novak had received an email that Wright was among those told Duffy didn't pay back his own contested expenses.)

Bayne said Wright redacted the email as "irrelevant" but he said it was about Harper wanting the issue regarding Duffy resolved quickly.

Wright said he redacted the email because when he was initially collecting his emails for the ethics commissioner, he didn't think it was relevant.

Looks like there will be some long faces among the Harper-haters on this board... That's OK though, I have something that will help with all the crying that will be a-comin'

That is if you believe Nigel which I don't totally, Let see there were all
kinds of people around the PM and the water cooler that knew but he
knew nothing. Most will not believe that. In politics two people knowing
a secret is bad enough but here we have at least five people who knew.
They attempted a cover up they knowing spread lies to the public and
now they want credibility. I think people are about fed up but it is still
summer. Some say people will change their mind. Me too I am now
becoming more angry than I was and I am tempted to go from a passive
vote to getting involved in a campaign which I am reluctant to do.

No matter how much you and the media party try the Canadian people cannot get behind a faux scandal where the smoking gun is paying back $ 90,000.00 .
there was more money then that changing hands in brown paper bags during sponsorgate and that money never got paid back .
And for a blast from the past for our NDP supporters there was more money involved in bingogate .
I am pretty sure Dave (not so ) Stupich is still collecting his pension .
