Great places to work

Every year, a private research firm comes out with its list of the 50 best companies to work for in Canada. To get on the list, a company first has to be nominated by employees. The private firm — the Great Place to Work Institute Canada — then surveys thousands of workers to come up with its final tally.

It takes more than good pay, decent benefits and ample vacation time to make the list. But 84 per cent of the people who work for the 50 companies that made the list say they like going to work on Mondays.

On ma daze off I werk at Wallymart cuz not on of em by they's each pays a ****in nuff to keep a goddam flea alive.

But thets the way'tiz up chere in Kanadar eh. An gonna get betterr two when ****in Harpo gets it all fixed up. Here tell he's a fixin to passe a law wher yuh cain werk at 4 or 5 jobes ifn ya wants two, eh.

Coarse, he's in a miner, er, minoe, er, less number thing, so's the other guys probably won't let im, eh.........goddam libereales. and the like eh.

My place of work is a hazardous mess. It doesn't meet a single safety code, let alone building code right now. My work area is constantly being switched around, and right now, it doesn't even work at all. But, at least my employer had the sense to rectify the issue of the sink that drains onto the floor, by removing all water flowing to it. The boss does attempt to make up for the conditions with compromises however, such as paying for safety footwear for when I need to be standing on nails, and making sure the tub has running water for filling the coffee pot. He's also willing to let me have a midday break to, erm, 'have lunch' with him, which I've been told is a nontaxable benefit. I'm sure the gov will find a way to make me pay taxes on it soon enough though.
