ST. CATHARINES, Ont. -- A trip to the store for Easter goodies has left a local grandmother traumatized from a road rage attack that left her with a damaged car and a burn from a cigarette flicked at her face.
Rose Narrie, 62, who suffers from stomach and liver cancer, has been left shaken and her husband outraged from the Thursday attack.
"You live your whole life to retire in peace and quiet, and I have enough on my plate to deal with," Narrie said. "I don't go out of the house a lot, but when I'm having a good day I'll go to some stores that are close by with my daughter. I just want to live in peace and enjoy every day."
Police said the suspect slammed on his brakes in front of Narrie, then followed her vehicle into a restaurant parking lot.
After initially blocking her car, the thug pulled alongside and flicked a lit cigarette at her face and then hit the side of her car with his as he sped away.
"I just can't believe he was smiling and laughing when he flicked the cigarette in my face," Narrie said. "He enjoyed it. Hit hit me in the face with it, and it fell down my blouse.
“As I was pulling at my blouse, he was killing himself laughing."
Police said the suspect was driving a green, older Mazda Mx-6. Narrie said the suspect was about 25 to 30 years of age, slender with a pock-marked face and brown hair.
"He had a girl with him and she was freaking out," husband Bill Narrie said. "I'm hoping she is going to come forward. I am offering a reward on Facebook of $1,000 for information. I want this guy caught."

Bill Narrie stands by the damage done to the car his wife was driving when she was a victim of road rage.

People like this are the reason I could never work in law enforcement. I think I could maintain my professionalism when it comes to dealing with heavy duty criminals, but jerk offs like this guy? I be smacking the crap out of him.

Why on earth did she have the window open when somebody is screaming at her unless she was breaking him off?

To me it seems she figured she was some tough old broad who would give him what for but all of a sudden is traumatized after her not being able to give him the what for she figured would set him straight.

If you don't want to have cigs flickd in your face, don't roll down your window thinking you are capable of handling any outcome.

I know there are a few details missing, like why he slammed his brakes on in front of her...I was kinda of looking for some denial on her part about any behavior which may have triggered it but......nope.

That what graany figured she was ballsy enough to do. Turns out it didn't work out that and she is now "traumatized" by her stupidity of confronting the guy.

Road Rage: 10 Tips for Avoiding Conflict | Direct Line Van insurance

If an angry driver approaches your van then don’t get out. Ensure your windows are up and the doors are locked and try and drive to a safe place such as a police station or a crowded area. If it’s impossible.

Granny needs to brush up on a few things....

The article doesn't say that.

Look I didn't mean it. She reminded me of my Grandmother who was hardcore Irish catholic and she always blamed me for leaving crumbs in the butter. Did I mention I'm writing a book? It's called: Scars My Grandmother Left Me.

How did she get burned through a rolled up window and locked door?

You said:

.

To which I said:

The article didn't say that.

You assume much. Have you assumed that maybe she pulled in to the parking area NOT expecting him to pull in after her and assault her? I get it if you think everyone is out to assault you, but this lady probably wasn't thinking that. She probably had her window open for the fresh air. Women should not have to live afraid of assault.

Of course it didn't but play it all out in your head using what is ther and then fill in the obvious blanks.

Why do you think she rolled her window down during a dangerous situation?

To offer him a pen to write down his plate number for her?

Maybe her window was already down? Maybe the dangerous situation only appeared dangerous AFTER it happened, not before while she was just going about her business. Hindsight is 20/20 they say. However, it does not say in the article that she KNEW he'd followed her into the parking lot, nor did it say that she KNEW he was angry and aggressive NOR that she KNEW him to be dangerous and an asshat.

Geez.... I had a guy rode-rage me today when I slowed for some blue-red flashing lights on the highway ahead (meaning he rode my *** until I stopped right beside the cruiser) My guess is road rage causes tunnel vision too.

Too bad Gram's didn't have a similar outcome.

wow, ya never know the mental condition of the other driver

we had what could have come to a situation today....my guy is Mr. Speed on the highway....not today... going to get my winter tires off (fingers crossed, please god make the snow stay away) anyway, he is driving down the turn off highway like grandma Moses...so I check the rear and this guy behind us is practically in the fuking back seat...so I say...um, hon, the speed limit is 80k is there a reason you are doing 72?

he says:huh?

me: yeah hun you are doing 72....

him...oops he says and speeds up to an acceptable 90.

I have zero idea what that was about...but buddy behind was antsy and it was my car which was making me antsy.

Sometimes when we are relaxed we are just zoned and we get close to some azzhat who has had the day from hell.

I'll take of my rose coloured glasses if you take of your cynical ones.

Reality glasses? You can borrow them if you'd like. She had ample of time and opportunity to roll up her window and for her or her daughter to get his plate number.

She says she could see his delight and assessed that he was enjoying himself but never knew the pissed off look mean't that he was pissed off.

This isn't a unique incident and why (if you Google it) you'll a plethora of information on how to protect yourself from violence and all of them say roll up your windows, lock your doors and shut your pie hole.

It's what a smart person would do.
