My favorite line is used in restaurants when the waitress asks me for a refill of coffee.

At first I couldn't think of any prhases. But my morning routine lent inspiration.

Trying to get my kids out the door on time for the bus is like....

... herding cats.

... pissing into the wind.

... trying to catch a typhoon in a teacup.

Happy as two pigs in a poke (buying a pig in a poke is akin to "buyer beware" and this phrase, from my hills of wv means being happy about something you otherwise shouldnt be)

Also from my wv heritage

More wv coloquialisms

"Hoot and Holler" = about two miles

Ya'll have a masterful good time

Full as a wood tick

Backdoor trots (you can guess that one)

"tater wagon coming" when you hear thunder

Crack a window (open a window) and cut the light on (turn on a light)

Gonna wear you out (give a spanking) Also gonna wear out your butt

Yer lookin' a might peaked--you're pale

"gone blinky" like when milk goes sour

Ive got a crick in my neck (sore neck, stiff neck)

Ate up with--completely infected, as in "Ate up withthe flu"

Lick of--means none. Like "he doesnt have a lick of sense" meaning he's really stupid. Or "ain't got a lick" meaning I don't have any

Mammaw--grandmother, meemaw--great grandmother. likewise pappaw is grandfather and peepaw is great grandfather

Give me some sugar (give me a kiss)

Oh and one last one....a touque is called a toboggan....
