(CBC HOG Oates recently lambasted Cdn govt for relying so heavily on resource extraction for jobs and revenue -as if exploiting stuff we have in abundance was foolish! Oates and her ilk now promote a “service economy” which is exactly what Wuhan Virus IS BEST AT KILLING OFF!)
(A miner isolated in his machine cab, or an oil refinery technician at his console can social distance MUCH MORE EASILY than a restaurant worker or home delivery person!)
Here in Newfoundland and Labrador, the economy is always a major issue.
It is also a strategy that continues to miss the point that the most lucrative products in the contemporary global economy are in service and knowledge-based sectors.
(Knowledge based industries CAN be highly profitable! TOO BAD Canada has SO LITTLE of that sort of work! Consider Sweden that operates TWO car makers - Volvo and Saab! Sweden also makes its own Saab Vigen jet fighters and wants to bid on the new Cdn fighter jet purchase that Cdn LIE-berals are PRETENDING they want to buy! Or go into any auto parts maker in Ontari-owe an d have a look at THE SWEDISH designed and MADE CNC machines cranking out parts!)
(How is it that Canada DOES NOT have any comparable industries to Sweden? The simple answer is that for over 100 years - Cdn govts - mostly LIE-beral since they have ben in power more frequently than Conservatives - HAVE RELIED ON CASH BAIT to lure a foreign national company to local a branch plant here!)
(And of course the branch plant IS LIMITED in who it can sell to since it is forbidden to compete directly with the parent company! Thus Cdn economy is systematically stunted by so much foreign ownership!)
Furthermore, our province is once again missing the next big economic turn by failing to prepare for the coming green economy, in any kind of way that matters.
(LIE-berals are promoting their Green Economy the same way that Nazis promoted their Germany above all rhetoric - for the same GROSSLY SELFISH REASONS! The Green Revolution will benefit us about as much as the Communist Revolution benefited Russia!)
(The carbon tax SCAM has been revealed as nothing but a SHAMELESS GRAVY GRAB by LIE-berals who are willing to make US pay any price so the can BUY enough votes to cling to power at any price!)
(Articles are ALREADY condemning the service life of wind generation towers! IN the summer 2019 news were some photos and article detailing how a THREE YEAR OLD wind tower caught fire and disintegrated near Pontypool Ont. In related news there are reports of 14 year old towers being declared obsolete in Minnesota - with state govt disgusted at the POOR service life of the green machines! And of course the owners are fighting with govt over the cost of dismantling the towers with that cost being in the $200,000 U.S. range!)
(In other number fudging by green advocates - they DO NOT COUNT the cost to send out fuel guzzling helicopters to spray de-icing fluid on the wind blades so they will not ice up and become unbalanced and thus weakened or broken!)
(Is it possible that ice loading and strain in the KNOWN SNOW BELT Area Pontypool resulted in that 3 year old tower getting wrecked? Nobody is saying!)
(Naturally LIE-berals WANT the wind towers and that GREEN GRAVY BUT DO NOT want the cost to take the worn out towers down - while the owners claim that govt estimates of the dismantle cost are TOO HIGH and thus they are resisting putting money away for the inevitable day the tower is declared obsolete!)
Newfoundland and Labrador — and in many ways Canada — have never moved past the old-style imperial economy.
(People stay with what works! Newfies WOULD STILL BE FISHING if Ottawa has not sat in slack jawed amazement as an international fleet of HUGE TRAWLERS caught everything in the sea and destroyed the Fishery!)
Time to envision a provincial economy beyond oil and gas, say critics
(It IS a wonderful thought with NO IDEAS behind it! What CAN Cdns do for work in this modern world? WE DO need some sort of work and why not exploit what we have - after all lumberjacks and fishermen will send their kids to school and who knows what Cdns will eventually produce!)
(As an example of all that is wrong with LIE-beral economics I tell of two couples I know - all four university educated and all from well establisheed Cdn families who owned houses and had investments and etc. And the two guys worked at IBM for a decade and then set up their own software writing and producing company for various applications and did well producing some video games as well!)
(The time came when the new software company was doing well enough to expand - they wanted to buy a building instead of leasing! Needed o get set up some place with low taxes to make it easier on the start up; and they wanted a place with lots of potential customers as well! And that list of needs led them OUT OF CANADA - and into Arizona!)
(So FOUR educated, upper class Cdns took their family money and their education
AWAY fro overv taxed LIE-beral Canada and went to Arizona! And the cap to this crap is that one couple discovered they could not have kids and so they ADOPTED TWO Yankee orphans - thus two kids who were born into disaster were instead raised in a happy, healthy, secure setting where they both did well in school and were able to move into a solid adult life!)
(I can see VERY CLEARLY what United States got from luring that pair of couples in - BUT WHAT did we get from driving them away with HIGH TAXES and civil service union HOG GREED?)
This prevents us from capitalizing on the notoriety and positive public relations gained from opportunities like the Tony-winning musical, Come From Away.
(People who are worried about their jobs - DO NOT go to Musical Theatre!! And no need to travel to see a version of the play in Newfoundland - when it is playing in Toronto and in New York etc!! Just HOW does CBC expect to FURTHER PROFIT FROM OR PROMOTE the play?)
There is excellent growth in our technology sector, but the companies are experiencing a shortage of workers. The provincial government reports that they are working with post-secondary institutions to address this. One might wonder why this was not done 30 years ago and continued on a regular basis.
(CBC is now promoting Community College HOGS!! Our kids have discovered the HARD WAY that a College degree DOES NOT lead to high pay! But it DOES USUALLY LEAD to a job that requires the kid to move back to parents basement for ten years or more - till the student loan is paid off!! Far to many jobs supply pay that is too low to cover both student loans and HIGH RENTS that are the result of LIE-beral gravy grabbing!)
(The LIE-beral choice to cram as many people as possible into the smallest urban space has produced SOARING RENTS- that in many cities are rising THREE HUNDRED PERCENT faster that wage increases!)
(Ontari-owe Community Colleges offer course for such things as “chemical technologist” - meaning you pay OVER $15 grand - not including text books or any living expenses while you study - to obtain a job that only gives near minimum wage so you can spend your nights cleaning up possibly hazardous residue in a lab some place! You will pay $15 grand to win PERMANENT NIGHT work - with all the accompanying disruption of Circadian Rhythm and general health that such work often entails!)
(It is bad enough being on permanent nights - but as the Jobs Canada web site makes clear - the college grad chemical technologist can also expect to see their skill set be swiftly rendered OBSOLETE by rapidly evolving technology!! Thus - the technologist is likely to be unemployed and in need of further COSTLY schooling even before the old student loans are fully paid!)
(Such an economic trade off suits HOGS who like to FULLY EXPLOIT the cash cows in their classes but it is NOT winning over the cows! Thus the jobs LIE-berals want us to pay for ARE NOT ones we want!! Teacher HOG price gouging and high priced tuition is blocking the production of the skilled workers that employers seek! And a service economy heavily loaded with Barista coffee snobs WILL NOT supply the gravy HOGS desire!)
Certainly, the research was clear in the 1990s that the economy of the future would be increasingly technical.
Why has there not been an effective and ongoing conversation with our academic institutions on how to prepare our workforce for the technical boom?
(Consider two young men that I know - and one has a relative who got him into the CP RAIL union and he makes a nice living - and owns a little house - working within the powerful CP RAIL OLIGOPOLY! )
(The other guy has NO handy union HOG relatives to assist him and so he is self employed as a cable installer for phones, internet and cable tv - and he gave up on the COSTLY Toronto GTA and moved to Loydminster Saskatchewan and got a lot of work installing cable for oil workers just a hop across the border in Alberta!)
(Things went NICELY in Lloydminster - till the oil price crash - and now NOBODY wants new cable installed because they are more worried about losing their house!)
(So the guy working for the UNION HOG oligopoly is still doing fine!! But the cable guy in the free market who gets paid what people can really afford - is SCREWED!! How do LIE-berals respond to this?? THEY DONT!!)
It is noteworthy that Memorial University has lost $40 million in funding since the 2012-13 fiscal year (and seems to be slated to lose more) at a time when the healthiest economies all have strong universities and global academic networks. Approximately 200 faculty positions have been cut at the university. There have also been cuts to College of the North Atlantic.
(Yes- just before Ontari-owe LIE-beral Wynne-bag was destroyed in the 2018 election she got a political black eye as senior college and university staff DEMANDED IMMEDIATE PAY RAISES in the fifty percent range!! Hog unreality is destroying LIE-beral policy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Academics are innovators in the knowledge economy and universities are one of the best ways to attract young people to our aging population. There is no way for our province to thrive in the modern knowledge-based economy without well-resourced academic institutions.
(That is HOG Bullsh+t!! There are HORDES of people lining up at our borders seeking entry -too bad LIE-berals are ONLY seeking ones who can be easily bribed with govt gravy!! LIE-berals SCORN successful and resourceful immigrants in favour of those who will need life long govt support - with LIE-berals being blind to the approaching DEBT WALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

This is penny-wise and pound foolish at best. It also belies the point that our province is not investing in strategic sectors that are growing rapidly.
(If the strategic sectors are ALREADY “growing rapidly” - then WHY do they need govt aid????????????????????????)
Some sources anticipate that by 2025 electric cars will be the same price as gasoline powered cars. The U.S. had 60,000 electric charging stations by 2018. Canada has approximately 6,000.
(Yes - and some LIE-berals see nothing to fear in that looming debt wall either!! LIE-beral visions of the future are frequently more imaginative and inventive than many Hollywood productions!!!!!!!!!!)
Economists have developed economic models for how the green economy can work and the cost of renewable energy is falling. However, there continues to be a policy failure on the part of all levels of government in Canada to address these shifts.
(And yet the SAME ECONOMISTS told us a few years back that “we are running out of fossil fuels”!! And now we are looking at a fuel GLUT AND PRICE WARS!! With such a clear vision as economists have previously displayed - it seems logical to SHUN their self serving idiot predictions now!)
(Even worse- the Ontari-owe LIE-beral use of unreliable mouldy green power as an excuse to GRAVY GRAB has soured Cdns on Renewable energy!! It does not help that both Germany and Spain -formerly the two most enthusiastic supporters of rewnewable energy have backed away from it as they discovered that for each new green job that was created - there were 2.5 old style jobs lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
