December 2002 - Passionate Eye. In it they asked tough questions about "the case" for war and potential fallout. This kind of journalism did not exist in the US, where it was treasonous to envision anything but war and Iraqi tickertape parades.

You could not be more wrong. That is why I think Canadians are way too isolated in their opinions of the U.S. - even though bombarded with tons of U.S. entertainment programming...you have little access to choice because the network programming is selected for your consumption and which networks are allowed.
Kreskin said:If you search the internet for Foxnews interviews etc with Bush admin officials during the run up to the Iraq war the focus of the interviews are primarily this:
1) How to convince ourselves that Iraq is in military breach of previous resolutions.
2) How to convince the UN to take military action with us.
3) How to get everything through Congress.
4) Which politicians don't seem to be with us.
That's about as deep as it gets.

foxnews, makes me upsetm, sad and laugh. Sometimes at the same time. It's amazing the things they say sometimes.
I think not said:It's rather funny you are comparing the CBC with a privately owned television station, how about a more apples to apples comparison? Say PBS and CBC? And NPR with CBC Radio? See what you come up with, one thing you will find is they don't require $1 billion in public money to operate, 70% of their budget is raised via donations.
I think not said:It hasn't, but to compare Fox with the CBC is comparing apples and oranges. PBS is publicly funded to a certain extent, last years federal budget called for $360 million in federal money for all non-profit television and radio stations (that's about 400 across the country). I also like PBS doucmentaries, like Frontline and NOVA, that doesn't mean other stations don't have quality programming.
And if I may be frank, calling the CBC a pillar of Canadian Indentity is nonsense, I have never heard of other countries [with public television stations and radios] referring to them as a symbol of their indentity. You have so many other things to talk about, and some pick the CBC for crying outloud.

private media=bad
public media=good
It doesn't bother me, does something have to bother me to make a comment?
I think it's laughable some of you refer to the CBC as an element of Canadian Indentity.
Oh yeah, I have no agenda, that's a leftist term I never use.
#juan said:It must bother you if you call them the Communist Broadcasting Coorporation.
#juan said:I don't know where I said anything about Canadian identity. I said CBC provided a service to hundreds of communities in the north and the far north where without the CBC there would be no TV.
#juan said:Agenda is a "leftist term? I hadn't heard that. Is anyone else allowed to use it?
