Well it seems that the word that rimes with hunt but the first letter of which is a "c" is not acceptable...

Seems whomever writes the parsing software has particular biases.... that doesn't include vagina...

Just wondering...

This has been a test...

If this had been an actual outburst of NON-PC language your monitor and computer would have melted down into rubble....

****!

Well now is it a word that is offensive or is it the "meaning" that's offensive???

DEMOCRACY

FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION

Hard to say....

It seems sensive to the "F" word that rimes with Truck....

It sure is fortunate that the same standards aren't applied to Canadian politicians and the comedy channel entertainers.... No Canadian politician (Brian Mulroney as example) would ever be allowed to speak publicly...but the "finger" (Pierre Trudeau...of fuddle-duddle fame) is acceptable while we punish Canadian politicians for calling George Bush a moron....

Like Dick Cheney....

It must suck just being a Cheney although I'd have to ask Dick's daughter for confirmation on that..

It's very curious. Is sex education still a touchy subject in schools? What words do they use to familiarize students with human anatomy?

Remember that kid from Kindergarten Cop? Boys have a penis, girls have a vagina. That's what I thought of immediately when I read the thread title.

What a ridiculous situation.

I don't have a Vancouver phone book right now but there used to be two people in it called Richard Head. I can't believe the bullies and class idiots missed that. I don't know their ages. Richard Head would surely be an unfortunate name for a kid entering junior high today.

I often refer to one of my co workers as RIchard Head. I think he responds with Richard Wadd or Richard Less.

Then there are the unfortunate girls in the Hoar family. A name is important, but some kids must go through a lot.

Two I remember are "Katharine Mary Brackenberry" who was tormented endlessly by the stupid section, and "Virginia Hyman" who didn't have a big problem until highschool from newly pubescent dorks. Kids are rotten little ****s and we weren't any better.:-D

I'm not surprised; my wife, who teaches grade six just had the sex talk with her class. To say they knew nothing would be an understatement; the parents of most of them had not, and would not, even try to discuss the issue further.

Consider it's around the age when girls start getting their periods, and though many of them already have, many of them knew nothing about it, how tampons worked, or even about toxic shock. It's pretty sad, really.

My wife used to go to school with a Richard Head in elementary school. So on top of having the worst name ever, he also had juvenille osteoperosis and was an outcast (for both of those reasons, among others). My wife recalls when the class was out playing baseball, and Mr. Head slid into home plate. He somehow managed to break BOTH of his legs. Talk about a rough life. I wonder what ever happened to him; he moved not long after (maybe he's in Vancouver) :)

Kids learn from their models after all...

First time I heard my parent use the "f" word I was suprised...and totally naive of course.

Society expresses a penchant for political correctness that is used to hide its prejudices and hatreds...children are perhaps better versed in language "use" than they are in deciphering when appropriateness grants the latitude to express prejudices and hatred. I'd suggest that a good deal of inappropriate languge and its application in daily life stems from the enthusiasm demonstrated by media and embraced as a social device used as milestone in development... Certainly children use bad language and it seems these kids are getting younger and younger as time goes by...

What's the first thing an immigrant child might learn from exposure to movies and TV...

Same is true of course for English language users when exposed to foreign entertainment and dialogue outside the strcitures of "approval"...

The seeds of contempt and hatred are planted early...seems to be how we want our men to develop from boys and our women to express their resentment at "genderfication"...

Nothing new here...
