Dead on right.

In fact this kind of discrimination is one of the last barriers
to overcome.

In fact the hetero group has done such a fine job with
marriage, we ought to let the gay group go through the
same.

:)

Enterring into the equation a civil union will certainly
enjoin the issue of loyalty and death do us part and
of course the benefits and pain of it all.

Perhaps the question of marriage and civil union
must lurk in the balance of any long term relationship,
as it seeks to evolve.

Religious leaders rally for gay rights

A teaser:

KIRKLAND -- Religious leaders who favor increased protection for gays took their cause to the Eastside Wednesday, directly challenging the Rev. Ken Hutcherson and his supporters.

About 30 people of various faiths gathered at the entrance of Lake Washington High School to support long-stymied legislation that would outlaw discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

The group also met "to counter the very loud voices by a very few fundamentalist religious leaders" who oppose the bill, which was narrowly defeated in the 2005 Legislature and is expected to be reintroduced in the upcoming session, said Robert Jacobs, Northwest regional director of the Anti-Defamation League. Good for them.

Gay Rights Debate

It's odd how one always hears the arguments from the "Religious Right," insofar as they are opposed to same-sex marriage, in some cases going further to promote the restriction of gay rights altogether; however, we almost never hear the arguments from the other side of the spectrum.
