Over 70% of all AIDS diagnoses in Canada in adults over the age of 15 up to June 2004 were in homosexual men (13,019
out of 19,238). 60% of all positive HIV tests are found in homosexual men. This contrasts with just over 15% of all positive HIV

The concept of marriage predates all of today's religions, so religion does not get a say on who marries who outside the confines of their churches.

Ok, so are you implying that HISTORY get's the say on who marries outside the churches?

If so, can you please show me proof of marriage that predated all of today's religions where it was acceptable for a man to marry a man?

But when it comes down to changing the definition of a word that was created by the same religious beleifs they consider "bigotry", that is going too far.

First off, marriage is not a religious institution, only the ceremony is. Marriage has always been, and still is a legally binding contract. That is why even though you are married by the church, all licences are granted by the government. All that is happening now is that the parties to that contract are being redefined.

Secondly, Christians have throughout their history hijacked everything from pagan customs and holidays to actual deities, and called them their own...why would anyone give a rat's ass that they think that, what they mistakenly thought was their word, is being usurped...

Actually, I've made no such distinction...I realize there are non-religious bigots as well...

You are claiming that homosexuals are imposing their beliefs on society by dictating what we perceive as just?

But it wasn't "homosexuals" who decided that we need to treat everyone fairly and equally. To a great extent it was the Christian church. With that whole Golden Rule thing.

So you're claiming that the "homosexuals" desire to be treated equally and fairly, without discrimination, is imposing some "belief in what is just" on a society, which has as one of its major tenets, the idea that all people are equal and deserve equal treatment.

So using society's own rules is "imposing" a belief on society, and is therefore unfair?

I think I see your logic here.

But to boil it down, it seems that your whole objection is the use of the term "marriage", which you seem to believe is a religious term.
