This is an incredibly ancient talking point.

Our net carbon emissions are worse.

The standard is based on reduction targets.

Obviously with a smaller population, we'll have a lower percentage.

So, even if we cut our emissions to zero. It would be a drop in an ocean of CO2. So tell me, what is the impetus to screw over our economy?

You are not that stupid. If we have a low percentage, we really aren't that much of an issue to the overall carbon footprint at all. Certainly it would make sense that you go after the biggies like China and India as they produce a lot more.

All this goes with the assumption that the amount of carbon used means anything to anybody and is not just Al Gore's wet dream.

No we don't cut to zero.

That's why we have these meetings where national leaders agree on what amount they would cut.

This would supposedly be an amount that still balances the reduction with a sustainable economy.

We are already failing the targets we set ourselves.

You mean the ridiculously infantile assumption that cutting some emissions will be the death of the economy/us all?

I believe that was addressed if you read my post.

Of course, if we are a one trick fossil fuel pony now (thanks to Harper), that will make it more difficult to recover.

That's why we need someone with more foresight on the economy, instead of that one trick pony.

Oh oh! Here comes a wrench in the emissions psychobabble.

Pete wants to know what type of coal, how much was used for power, how much was coked, how much went into making steel and how much for chemical industries?

All those words and still no answer.

Curious there bud, exactly what do you plan on replacing hydrocarbons and coal with?... Any thoughts?... Better yet, what have YOU done to curb your own personal emissions?

Flossy doesn't like it when you ask him to dissect the actual emissions by sector and/or by the individual consumer.... That's verboten
