hehe ... I found it here :wink: a quiz for you :p

"The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see Nature all ridicule and deformity, and some scarce see Nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, Nature is Imagination itself."

"the restlessness of shorebirds, their kinship with the distance and swift seasons, the wistful signal of their voices and down the long coastlines of the world make them, for me, the most affecting of wild creatures. I think of them as birds of wind, as "wind birds"

Peter matthiessen the wind birds

:lol: Wow, 9/10: it seems I'm 'a veritable Sappho' :roll:

To which end ...

"So must we learn in a world made as this one
Man can never attain his greatest desire,
But must pray for what good fortune Fate holdeth, Never unmindful."

(That's from Sappho, in case anyone was wondering :wink: )

Rev's mention of "thou shalt not ... " reminded me of this Blake poem. (I've probably posted it before, it's a favourite, but who's counting?)

I went to the Garden of Love.
And saw what I never had seen:
A Chapel was built in the midst,
Where I used to play on the green.

And the gates of this Chapel were shut,
And "Thou shalt not," writ over the door;
So I turn'd to the Garden of Love,
That so many sweet flowers bore,

And I saw it was filled with graves,
And tomb-stones where flowers should be:
And priests in black gowns, were walking their rounds,
And binding with briars, my joys & desires.

"But scarce observed, the knowing and the bold
Fall in the general massacre of gold;
Wide-wasting pest! that rages unconfined,
And crowds with crimes the records of mankind;
For gold his sword the hireling ruffian draws,
For gold the hireling judge distorts the laws;
Wealth heaped on wealth, nor truth nor safety buys,
The dangers gather as the treasures rise."
