Germany 2-0 Poland:bounce:

The game was really great. A couple of friends and I met at a cafe, not specifically to watch the game, but they had setup monitors and it was a blast. Nobody really likes Poland here right now for political reasons so it turned into a big party right after our first goal ;) Deutschland wird Europameister ;)

OK, we'll let everyone above in, and will leave it open for another couple of hours, then I'll close the thread.

Since all points bids are in, let's discuss the tournament matches.

Today, I watched that great match between Spain and Sweden. In terms of skill, the Swedes were not the equal of the Spaniards. But the latter had the quickness and timing. Without Puyol at D, they were a bit vulnerable to the strong attackers from the Northlands. Still, Spain had greater time of possession and a loooong pass in stoppage time set up the winning goal that sent their opponents home.

Spain won their group as Russia (who lost earlier to Spain by a score of 4-1) defeated Greece. Portugal has also won its group and the runners up are to be determined in those groups this week.

... Play on!

Uh, is anybody watching the matches or are they just hunting for rep points??

In case you missed it, Turkey made an almost incredible comeback: down 2-0 in the second half, they scored three unanswered goals for the win. The TV announcers said it was the most exciting comeback they ever saw in the series. Adrian Gray even said that this is what makes international football the great game it is. Indeed, it was a match for the ages.

I've been watching the highlights and matches, when I have the time. Yesterday was a huge disappointment, though well played by the Russians. I almost went with the Dutch when I placed my wager...though the Italians are looking good for today's match with badly bruised Spain.

GO AZZURI!

I watched today's match as Spain defeated those crybaby Italians on PKs 4-2.

Honestly now, the friggin match looked like a fix. The crybabies got every call including what should have a PK in their D zone. The TV announcers couldn't believe that the paid referee overlooked what was or should have been an obvious penalty. Then, when a Spaniard complained he was unfairly booked on a YC.

What the hell was that jackazz referee expecting??

Anyways, I'm glad Spain won. Look forward to their match on Thursday.

It was an amazing game and made for huge parties all over the German capital. Some amazing plays by both Lahm and Basitan "Schweini" Schweinsteiger.

Hi, Chris;
I can imagine the euphoria after the tension!!! You know, when I put my bet all the way on Germany, I did so for the fun and old times sake... I had no idea whatsoever how good of a player Mannschaft they were. Of course, now I hope and wish they'll win their next game against either Russia or Spain.
How is the tendency running in Germany? Can they win once more?

Schweinsteiger... what a name! But I read he is a great player with lots of strength.

We'll soon find out the results from Vienna. I guess they play in the evenings to avoid the heat of the day? Or because there will be more of an audience after supper?
I think the Russians will win today's game.
