Agreed.

You seem to have an appreciation of many sides to an issue, which is a rare commodity on this site.

Although I must admit, some of my views are changing because this place offers a lot of links that just don't get the headlines down here in island nation America.

And it has occurred to me, that a lot of the opposing parties do little to influence each other because they view the other as:

1. naive
2. ignorant
3. prejudiced
4. brainwashed
5. stupid
6. uninformed in history and current events
7. righteous (that's my favorite one)


Maybe that's true of all of us depending on different issues.

Do representative republics naturally become defined by a state of bickering ?

Let's add judgemental, AND conceited to the list.

My other favorite: ad hominen love.

By the way, I always liked the OTHER definition of conceit when
used in a literary context, whereby an author creates a
scenario that elicits your belief and that is called the author's conceit, the idea he asks you to agree as plausible.
