I never liked them for some reason. My woman loves these flicks but they've always bothered me. I have grown to like the zombie movies. I liked land of the dead because the living people still found a place to live. I always think that if we did ever have zombies like these movies that people would surely band together and make fortrusses to keep out the dump ass zombies.

Oh and Dawn of the dead (the new version) running zombies..... scary....

As you can also tell I'm not a fan of the ultra horror (not including friday 13th and nightmare as they are just funny). Zombie movies are something I've actually just started to like.

Besides that... the earth being sent into a ice age or being destoryed by a astriod.... mmmmmmm naaa don't like.

Vincent Price in "The last Man on Earth". It's an old b&w 1950's classic taken from a Richard Matheson story. Everyother being on the planet has vampiric tendencies and Vinny spends his days hunting them down and staking them :)

I should look this one up because I can't remember the title...

I saw it on television...an old movie about atomic fallout which had swept across the world and Australia was the last place on earth...where a group of survivors were gathered waiting for the end...

I was depressed for days thinking of how it could actually happen...

No no no...give me Zombies and Killer Tomatoes any day....they are not so real.

Probably, the best

"end of the world" movie was Dr. Strangelove. While that movie was hilariously funny in some places, thought provoking in others, it was an "end of the world" movie. Still one of my favorites.

Neville Shute's "On the Beach" was a depressing epic with little to redeem it.

"Invasion of the body snatchers" was not a bad end of the world movie.

Thanks #Juan

Whew....it's hard looking for a movie when you don't know the darn title!

On the Beach....that was the one.... or at least now I can look for the story line... it was horrible....agreed.

yes..a very depressing film :( The scene where Fred Astaire is driving his racing car around the deserted track still affects me.

You are not alone. I often strain my brain for an hour trying to remember something, and then it will come to me out of the blue at four in the morning.

I enjoyed virtually all Neville Shute's books but that one. The book was even worse than the movie.

I don't mind the Ahnie / Terminator thing, not because of the violence, which I think is just an Ahnie movie requirement, but rather for the whacked out, thought provoking storyline, and the *then* cutting edge cinematography and CGI.

His one-liner's are etched in my memory with that accent

Arnold's one liners as Governor of California are etched in my mind as well. Another bad call by the voters. Of all the people living in California, why they keep picking losers I'll never know.

This is great! I've seen a lot of the movies mentioned so far, and agree, they're great. In the meantime, I'm getting names of movies I haven't seen yet, and movies I had forgotten about and would like to see again (On The Beach).

For those fans of the genre, there is a little-known cult favourite called 'Miracle Mile', it is shudderingly good.

Funny, I don't like horror movies (psychotic killers and the like), but I love zombie and end-of-the-world movies (that sounds silly but there IS a difference).

Zombies I find to be just plain hilarious, and for the other, I just have an endlessly morbid fascination. We re-re-watched The Day After on Saturday, that surely must be, after Dr. Strangelove, one of the all-time greats.

Yup Thanks Haggis....

Movies keep running through my head and I should be getting ready for work hahaha....

The Swimmer is one movie that isn't about the end of the world as you described.... and it isn't even horror....but it is one which was so desperate....

Shiver...........gotta cheer up.....where's the chocolate???

The Swimmer? That sounds familiar, I'm going to look for it.

Chocolate, ha, if yor're having shivers AND your cheer-up quota is down, cheesecake is the only solution. Well, chocolate cheesecake if the situation is really bad. :D

Oh! Oh! Oh! I know why it sounded so familiar, I *have* seen it, it is a great movie! The book is awesome, too. That movie is one of those little rare classics that people have forgotten. Thanks for reminding me, Wednesday's Child.

"Fail Safe"

was sort of a Dr.Strangelove without the humour. It starred Henry Fonda. Like Dr Strangelove, an American B-52 atom bombs Russia (Moscow) and the president and the Premier are negotiating how to make it better. In the end they agree to atom bomb New York .
